Memorial Day Weekend

I am just newly engaged (got engaged Saturday 11/6/10) and although we haven't officially started planning I am trying to figure out places to go look at and dates I would be interested in.  Does anyone recall if when you were trying to pick your venue if the Sunday of Memorial day was cheaper then a Saturday night?

I would say no because it's a holiday weekend it might still be the same.  But I think that will vary depending on each venue try just calling one up and see what they say :)

When we were looking, the Sunday of Labor Day weekend was not cheaper because of the holiday weekend, so I would think Memorial Day weekend would be the same, but that may depend on the venue.

I am getting married the Friday of Memorial weekend.  We did get a bit of a price break but I don't know if it was becasue it was Memorial weekend or if that is standard for them.

We got married on the Sunday of MM day weekend.  We got the standard summer sunday rate, but not really any other discount because it was MM....any way you look at it. it's during peak season.  These dates tend to book quick, so not sure why places would offer a big discount.

Conversely, easter weekend was a HUGE discount at some places........I think some were like 40-50 bucks a plate cheaper.

I asked about the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and it was more expensive than a regular Sunday, but slightly cheaper than a Saturday.  (Memorial Day weekend at our venue is the same)  We ended up booking just under a year out (2 months earlier than we were looking for), and saved money that way.

Not sure on the venue- but I can say if you are having it anywhere near the beach, the room block prices will be sky high with at least a 2-night minimum. When I was calling around for my room block, they kept thinking my date was MDW and I had to remind them it wasn't.  For reference, my friend is having her wedding Sunday, July 3rd and she is getting a good discount on the venue. So I guess it all depends.

We're getting  married the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend 2011 and are being charged standard Sunday night rates, which are cheaper than Saturday night.
