Place Card Question

I also posted this on the paper/invites board...

Names on a placecard: Couple (Mr. and Mrs. John Smith)? or individual (one for Mr. John Smith and one for Mrs. Jane Smith)? (all couples will be sitting at the same table)  Thanks!

Re: Place Card Question

  • The wedding that I attended last month had one per couple (Mr. and Mrs. John Smith).  I have seen it done both ways but I think it would save a couple dollars to do one card.

  • I did one per couple or per single guest.  For single guests who brought +1s I found out the name of the +1 and put his/her name on the card with the single guest.

Also I wanted something a little less formal so I skipped the titles and just put "John and Jane Doe" etc.

  • Thanks! I am leaning towards one place card per married couple (same as invites).. Plus its a lot less work!

  • I've never seen married couples have their names on seperate place cards. They're obviously sitting together so what would be the point of doing that? All married couples and guests who brought a date to my wedding had one place card. Not only is it weird to me, but it just creates more work for you, costs extra money, and the more cards you have the greater the risk of missing printing a card for someone. It's not worth the hassle.

  • Thanks! I'm glad you all agree.. Honestly I never really thought about it before.. I have never gone to a wedding as a couple so I've always had my own.. I read somewhere that each guest should have their own placecard and thought that was weird too.. Thanks, I am def doing one per couple!
