Manor brides (West Orange)

I'm getting married there in May 2012...my question is which dj did you book? I have a friend that quoted me at $1250 but I think that's just the bare minimum and I feel weird trying to negotiate anything without insulting the guy.

I am getting married at The Manor in April, and we will most likely book Golden Note.  For $1300 you get a dj, mc, and cocktail hour music.  200 dollars extra for cereomny music, and other types of lighting packages that range anywhere from 300-5000.

We also checked out Gemini, and they were around the same price for the same thing.

I'm not a Manor bride either, but I'm using Gemini too! They are AWSOME!  Loved meeting with them and feel like they really understood exactly what we wanted and were able to put together a great package for us :oD

I am using Golden Note.. I can let you know how they are, since my wedding is in two weeks!

Also, you don't have to only use one of the DJs that the Manor suggests. You can use any DJ you want, so I'd suggest checking out our vendor review site.

ETA- Ginabean, I just remembered we had talked about Golden Note before, right? In any case, I will still let you know how it goes!

I'm a Manor bride and we're using Paul Anthony (he/his company also happens to be a recommended vendor). We're paying about $1700 for cocktail hour + 4 hours of the reception. We actually experienced his DJ-ing at another wedding, and he did such a fantastic job. He also really clicked with us when we met with him, and you can tell he's very professional and uses good equipment (that actually makes a difference - after the 5 weddings we went to this summer, we could tell!).

We also met with Gemini and liked them a lot (they offered the lowest uplighting price for us). We just felt more comfortable going with the DJ we were more familiar with, and we also didn't feel like Paul was trying to sell us on anything. He didn't push any of the extras at all. That makes a huge difference in my book. We asked him for a quote for uplighting later on, and his pricing is very reasonable. He also puts the effort into getting to know you, and the wedding we went to felt a lot more familiar and personal than other DJs who put in the bare minimum. We're very happy with our decision and we can't wait until he DJs our wedding!
