We met with a potential DJ last night with an open mind about budget.  We really wanted to just get a starting point for prices and to see what he had to offer.  I wasn't sure what to expect but for 7 hours of playing (pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception) along with uplighting it is about $2,800 for a Saturday evening in May.  Is that reasonable?  We really liked him but will definitely get other quotes.

Well, I didn't use my DJ for our ceremony but...we paid about $1100 for 4 hours at the reception. It was another $100 for the cocktail hour if we wanted.  We did lighting through a seperate vendor, which was about $1100 as well.  So add the pre-ceremony and ceremony on there, I guess that could be normal.

Check out www.FantasyDJs.com That's who we used and we really liked them.  Bob Albrecht was our MC and was fantastic.

JB Lighting is who we used for uplighting. Highly recommended by myself and lots of other girls on here.

that is definitely reasonable... i'm probably in the minority here but i'm spending upwards of 5k.... with lighting, photo montage, slideshows, ceremony taping to be shown prior to our entrance, surround sound since my room is large, etc.

That sounds good- check out Infinity Entertainment- our DJ package for piano player and reception is $1495 (neogtiated him down from 1695) and uplighting was another $650

We're using electrifying productions (www.electrifyingprods.com) and are getting ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and uplighting for about $1700. He was running a deal at the time to include CH for free and he threw in the ceremony music because he knows FI's mom, but that was only about $300 worth of services (I think they were each about $150), so even if you had to pay for everything it would still be less than $2800. You should check him out.

I'm meeting with Elite Sound Entertainment tomorrow and wanted to know if you guys think they will ask me to pay more if I ask for what I guess they call a "celebrity DJ", does this normally cost more?

That is the company I met with last night.  We really like him.  His mixing and ideas were great.  I do not believe his prices differed from anyone else in that company but maybe a bit higher than the rest of industry.  Although, according to some pp above his prices seems to be reasonable.

I booked elite sound and I looked at some other companies, but there prices are comparable. It is not on the low end, but not on the highest either.  If you want reviews for them I would post, I haven't seen them get a bad review on here.

Kathy-I belive you do have to pay extra for the owner (celebrity dj), but I think they only have 2 or 3 djs....

Thank you Anika, unfortuantly I waited too long and he was booked but we got out #2 choice who is just ask good and go a great price for everything so we're VERY happy
