Question about booking Videographer

Does it make sense to just book them to record the ceremony? Is it really necessary to have them there the whole day? I mean, the photographer can take pictures of everything else but the ceremony is really what makes the day special because it's when you become husband and wife.
I would really appreciate suggestion or feedback please ;)

I think it depends on how comfortable you are with watching yourself on video.  I love our video, but the ceremony is hard for me to watch because it is us talking.and I hate listening to my voice and hearing myself mess up.  I like watching the rest of the video and we usually fast-forward though the edited ceremony part.  We've only watched the separate chapter with the whole ceremony once and I don't know that I could bring myself to do that again.

Also, that's the easy part to catch, so you could maybe find a friend or family member to record it.

Video was one of the most important vendors we booked. You can look at a thousand pictures, but there's nothing like seeing your family and friends moving around, talking, dancing, and laughing having a great time. My parents have a short video from their wedding, and 29 years later we still watch it from time to time. It's a nice memory to see our family and their friends who have passed on since then. Having a video was actually more important to FI than pictures for that reason.

We had him record everything but bridal prep pre-ceremony. He started recording at the church and went through to the end of the reception. We were happy savings almost $600 by cutting the  bridal prep coverage hours and feel like we have ample amounts of photographs that captured those moments. I didn't want too many people in the room when I was getting ready (esp a young guy) and it saved us money in our budget.

I'm not sure how many times you can truly watch the ceremony part. I think your kids would even watch it a few times untill they get bored. I would have them shoot the whole day. It will be worth it. I think the photography is more important but Idealy both fully covered is the way to go. Our Photog also offers video with his pckage which we are going with. Well almost our Photog, we didn't contract yet but will.

We used Multivision and were very pleased with them.  Not sure what you consider affordable, but they gave us a great deal.

I would definitely get a full video or even the raw footage at the very least.  you will be surprised at how much you missed that you will see on the video afterwards.  We have so much fun watching the video every now and again and reliving that day.    It definitely is worth the money.

Did you get the photographer yet? They may also offer video as well. Mine does.

I just e-mailed this vendor to see if they are available for my date.  They seems to be the only one's in our price range that offer what we are looking for.  Also, I checked reviews about them on Wedding Wire and they were all positive.  So, I take that as a good sign...hoping they are available for my wedding date (crossing my fingers).

We are doing both photo and video.  Tot keep cost down, you can usually get a good price for someone who will do the ceremony and do the dances and toasts at the reception...i thought about that as an option since I'm not as big on video as my fiance
I couldn't tell you the day that I fell in love...but fall I did...head over heels in fact...Can't wait until I marry the love of my life.
