Candy Buffet as Favors..

FI and I have been throwing around ideas for wedding favors and have now switched from bottles of wine to a candy buffet. My question is....when do we put the buffet out? Should we leave it displayed all night near our sweetheart table? I really don't want people eating the candy all night long because we are having a viennese table, chocolate fountain, ice cream sundae bar, etc. etc. so I want them to save room for that! I also want to make sure they know that the candy is their favor. For those of you who did a candy buffet, what did you end up doing?

Our DOC set ours up on the table where we had our escort cards so that people passed it by as they left at the end of the night. We had a little framed thank you for coming sort of thing so ppl knew it was their favor. She set it up after dessert was served because that is when people tend to start leaving (at lesat those who are older of who have a long trip)

That is what I was thinking of doing Laurie...I'm just wondering if there would be a long line or if people would just end up walking right past it..

No we didn't have any issues. Because people don't all leave at once time, plus a few people can be at the table at a time since we had a scoop for each jar and our DOC placed the take out containers in random spots on the table.

We left it out all night so people wouldn't see it just as part of dessert.  Only kids pigged out on it early (and that was their parents' problem but not mine -- but yes, my 7 year-old cousin passed out in the lounge at the way end of the night, and my 9 year-old cousin apparently threw up when they got back to their room!!!)

As far as adults go, I wanted people to help themselves whenever, and if they filled up on it so be it.  I mean, time and time again I've read reviews of weddings that people filled themselves up at cocktail hour and therefore barely ate the meal.  So I figure those people aren't filling up on dessert anyway?

I would leave it out all night so it doesn't look like it's part of dessert.  Plus, that way people see it and know to take it.  I've been to places and didn't realize there were stations set up until they were cleaning it up or on the shuttle ride back after seeing a few people with the bags.
