Question for those who invited international guests

We have one invitation going to Spain and six going to Ecuador.  What would be the best way to handle the response cards for them since, I believe, they'd need their own country's postage on them (I could be wrong about that though)?

1.  We go somewhere to buy stamps from those countries to put on the response card envelopes?  If so, where can you do that?

2.  We don't put any postage on the response card envelopes and hope that our guests will have the sense to buy their own postage (not a fan of this idea).

3.  Make a note on their response cards that they should just call or email us with the information we need.  If so, how should we word their cards?

Ask the post office how much the international rate is and put that amount of postage on the response card.

We did option #1 and the post office helped us with figuring that out.

Did the post office have what you needed or did they direct you to another location?

The post office should be able to tell you what the rate back to the US will be, and add that much postage to your return card for you. It won't be as *pretty*, but it will get the job done.

My post office said they couldn't do anything about the postage on the response cards since they didn't have any Chinese postage.  Not sure if that's true or if there was something that could have been done and they jus tdidnd't want to do it cause they were lazy.  But, I just sent it without postage and sent an email saying that they could send their response by email.

Agree with PP. Just go to the post office and find out how much the postage would be for those areas. I have invites going to England and Ecuador, that's what I'll be doing.

We sent one invitation to Canada and one to Switzerland. They told us that they could not put postage on the RSVP cards since the envelopes would need foreign postage. So we just sent them without postage, thinking that the guests would put their own postage on it.

The Canadian friend e-mailed me to tell me she was coming, which was fine.

The Swiss relative never contacted us directly, but we heard through family members that she'd be coming.

You could ask your post office -- we asked ours and they told us they couldn't supply postage so we let our guests (both wedding party members, so I think they dealt fine with the possible etiquette breach) fend for themselves.  But isn't it tricky anyway with exchange rates and such?

(Our foreign invitations went to England and Qatar, if that matters).
