Westmount CC v. Addison Park - help!

We have narrowed our venue search to these two halls.  The vibe at each is very different, but I like both.  My main concern is food.  Never attended a wedding at either.  Heard very mixed things about the food at Addison, and mostly good things about Westmount.  Convinced Addison to give us a quick tasting this coming Friday and will probably have to have a decision for him soon afterwards as he's holding the date for us.  If anyone could provide some comparative reviews if you've attended a wedding at either or both, or if you've had your own at one, I'd really appreciate it.  I'm SO bad at making big decisions!  Thank you!

I am an Addison Bride.  They are having a bridal show this Tuesday if you would like to sample some of the food.  I heard great things about the food from three people.  Apprehensive myself, I come from a very Italian family so if the food is not good, they will remember it!!! I just LOVED the feel/look at Addison so I booked.

You sound just like me lol.  I absolutely love the look/feel, however coming from an Italian family you know the food is all that will be talked about/remembered!  I didn't realize there is a show on Tuesday.  What time?  Did you have to register?  I definitely want to attend.

Which package did you choose - Clarion or Addison?  DId you add the Viennese?  Ahh decisions, decisions...

My final 3 choices were:
1) The Merion (South NJ) - we chose here
2) Addison Park
3) Westmount CC

I went to a wedding @ Addison about a month ago and they did the smaller menu.  The dinner was good, but I didn't not enjoy the cocktail hour. The lobster bique soup was ridiculously stinky, but their rigatoni in garden tomato sauce was really delish.

I do hear wonderful things about the food at WWCC, the atmosphere didn't match my FI's personality and we aren't big prime rib fans, and that's their main beef dinner option.

I am a Westmount Bride, but Addison Park was definitely my runner up.  I though it was really beautiful inside, although I was not a huge fan of the smaller ballroom.  Since I loved the decor of both, it ultimately came down to food and price for me.  I had always heard great things about the Westmount food (as well as attended a wedding there) and had heard extremely mixed things about Addison.  Since I was concerned with the inconsistency of Addison's food, I ultimately decided on the Westmount.  Also, the price we were given for the Westmount was significantly better than Addison, so that helped too.

Hi Lauren,

Just wondering - when did you get married?  We are looking for a Sunday in July of 2012 and the price at Westmount actually comes to be slightly higher than that at Addison for the package we'd like with a Viennese.  I'm thinking that if I can get Westmount down a bit I might just book them over Addison.

Hi-

I am getting married on a Friday in September 2011 at the Westmount but not having the Viennese.  I am surprised that the Westmount is more than Addison.  I originally was hoping to get married in May 2011, so I priced out Addison and the Westmount for May and June 2011, and the Westmount was definitely lower but had very limited days available.  Also, I think the Friday prices were comparable but the Sunday prices at the Westmount seemed significantly lower than Addison's.

The Bridal Show is tonight at 7pm.  I registered, but I really don't think you need to.

I went with the Clarion package but he offered us an added station to the cocktail hour, I am adding a raw bar, and we upgraded to the Addison dinner menu instead of the Clarion. 

I bet you can use the mixed reviews on food as leverage for a discounted price.  Ed is the guy I work with over there, and he prides himself on the food quality. 

I will be back tomorrow to tell you how the food was.  :O)

Thanks Nicole.  I appreciate it.  One more question.  Did they seem to be more willing to negotiate pricing and specific add-ons or menu changes after signing?

You can make menu changes up until a month before your wedding.  I have already made some changes to our package.  They will negotiate with you, but I did that prior to putting our deposit and signing the contract.
