Maplewood CC

Hello ladies,

Happy X-Mas Eve. Even with holidays my thoughts are in the venue search. Have any  of you had your wedding or been to one at Maplewood CC in Maplewood, NJ? I spoke to the manager few days ago and the price is awesome $125pp plus flat service fee of $1,400 and tax. However, there is virtually no reviews or comments from last year or so. I would love to hear any comments or thoughts on this place. Thank you.

Maplewood Country Club was our runner-up venue. We were quoted $150 for a Saturday night in April 2011 (that included all the food except raw bar, which would have been an additional $20 per guest).

We went with Orange Lawn Tennis Club instead because Maplewood had that Typical New Jersey Venue look (my mom said it reminded her of either Rockleigh or Florentine), and we wanted something a bit different. Maplewood was also very rigid on the menu. We couldn't request a smaller cocktail hour spread - we'd have had to have things like the Asian station with Peking duck and a pasta toss. (I was turned off by their explanation - that because they don't do much advertising, they want to wow guests so that they can book their events with them. It was as though the bride and groom's wishes were an afterthought.)

I've never been to an event at Maplewood, but I'd reccomend it for couples who want the bells and whistles of a traditional New Jersey wedding, but don't want to have it at one of the more popular sites. It's a beautiful venue (just not our style), and they only do one event at a time.
