Photography help

Hiya ladies,

I'm searching for a good photographer who isn't too expensive in the north jersey area (or willing to travel to the north jersey area). I would love to hear who you are using -- and who you would NOT recommend.  We kinda prefer a man (not sure why exactly), but willing to meet a woman photographer. Any help anyone is willing to offer up is greatly appreciated!!

This is discussed frequently and you'd get a great head start by simply doing a search.  Two quick thoughts, though:

  -  One is that you haven't told us what you mean by "too expensive".  In this area, it's not uncommon to spend $5k+ on photography, albums, etc. So to someone planning to spend that, a $3k - $4k photographer could be viewed as a bargain.  When some people say not too expensive, they're looking for someone for $1k.  This is definitely one of those vendors where you tend to get what you pay for.  So what's your budget?

  -  Everyone is going to recommend the photographer they used because they were the right choice for them.  That doesn't necessarily mean they'll be the right choice for you.

So all of that said, we loved working with Robert Wayne Photography.  Including a large album and parent albums, we were just about $3k.  His style of photography is exactly what we were looking for and he's a real good guy.

Ditto GolfChick regarding clarification. I wasn't able to spend more than $2K on photography which to most in this area, is super frugal, but to me is stretching pennies.

I use Ryon of RyoNo Photo (website). He is a young guy with lots of energy and amazing vision. He did a friend's wedding and we have many mutual friends, so I kind of landed there naturally. You can see one of our e-pics below. He is really awesome.

Patrick Sweeney...he does awesome work!  I've hired him for my wedding, but he has done more than a dozen of my coworker's weddings!  He is highly recommended!  He's also reasonable...$3000 with 2 photographers...it's a husband and wife team

We are using Ryan from  Abella Studios, we loved them, They have different packages to fit your needs and budgets.  They also have 2 locations, one in North Jersey and one in Central Jersey.

I don't know what happened to TK, but a few days worth of posts just disappeared including my earlier reponse on this thread.

You need to define what you mean by not too expensive.  To some, that means $5000, to others it means $1000.  And you have to be careful as photography is not a commodity; you tend to get what you pay for.

We were delighted with our choice of Robert Wayne Photography.  For about $3000, we got our images on disc, a wonderful high-end album, and a pair of parent albums.  I know he has a disc only package that is even less.

I believe (before our posts all went away) that someone else on this thread recommended him as well.  He has a distinct style and it's not for everyone, but if you like his work, he's an easy choice to make.

We are using Magical Touch studios in Elmwood Park - our contact is Danny. We are getting photo (2 photograpers) and video from 2 hrs prior to ceremony and until the reception is over for $4k - this price gives us all ou pictures on a cd and the rights to our pictures so we can do what we want with them an also a raw footage DVD of the video. We love Danny bc we can go back to him at anytime if we choose to order prints, albums, or the edited DVD and it's not an issue. We are also having him place cards on our tables with a special code our guests can use to log on to his site and order any pics they may want. Good luck with your search!
