Thank you notes before the wedding?

Hi everyone:
I know this has been asked before, but I couldn't find any posts related to this lately. 

We are getting married in 18 days (yes, under 3 weeks!!!!) and we have started to receive checks and other wedding gifts from guests.  I'm unsure of what to do with the checks.  Did you write thank yous and cash checks BEFORE the wedding?  I don't want to mess up bank balances for people, but I don't want to look greedy and cash before our marriage.  What is your take on this?

I would cash them now, so that people know you received them and so their checking accounts aren't screwed up.

I would also write the thank you now, so that people know you got them, you can thank them properly, and it's one less thing to do later on. Ditto for other gifts.

If they didn't want you to cash the checks before the wedding, then they would've waited until after the wedding to send them to you. So it's not rude to cash them now.

I would agree with mbcdefg. I would cash them before the wedding and write a thank you. One less thing to do and worry about during/after the wedding.

Cash them now and send a thank you note immediately.

I am in the same boat & was wondering the same thing...
some people are actually sending checks with their NO RSVPs....

I agree it feels weird to cash them early (though it will definitely help!) but it seems to be the etiquette thing to do. And yes, if you cash better right out that thank you to go with it!

I cashed the checks received prior to as we received them, although am waiting for the TY card since we are doing the ones with our picture on it.
