How detailed did you get...

with your dj?
Did you just tell them to play the entrances, first dance, mother/son, father/daughter, and cake cutting and then trust in their judgment for the rest, or did you make a list of all of the songs you really want to hear? I feel as though I may be micro-managing a bit...
TIA

We got semi-detailed. We gave all the intro music (with some suggestion from the DJ), our first dance, father/daughter, mother/son, cake cutting, 2nd dance song, and had some help with last dance song. We also gave him a must play and do not play list.

We did pretty much this too....
But our MUST PLAY list was literally 2 songs, and the DO NOT PLAY list was basically just "no participation songs".
We knew our DJ was awesome, and trusted him to *read the crowd* and be able to play music that would keep everyone up & dancing... and he did just that.

Yeah...just as Heather said....a good DJ will read the crowd and play music that will get everyone going. If there are any particular songs you like, ask they be played, and songs you absolutely hate (ie. anything Meatloaf...lol and the group dances) ask that they do not play.

I'm pretty much the same with our DJ, semi-detailed. FI and I are going to provide a list of songs for the entrance, dance, cake cutting, etc. We are also going to give him a must play list that has between 10-15 songs on it and a don't play list which right now is basically no participation songs and no country.

Not very so far.Just a few songs that I like and a few our parents like. I have been to weddings where the bride had a play only list and the songs sucked and no one danced. So I will leave most of it up to the DJ.

I'm planning on a (yet to be selected) band and plan to be moderately specific. It's like anything else; you hire professional florists and photographers for their expertise so let them do the job you're paying them for. That said, feel free to express any important likes or dislikes or other special moments that you want them to choreograph.

This. Although, I did have about 5 songs that HAD to be played, and an anniversary dance added in. And our do not play list was only like, 3 songs as well.
