Wedding Favor Ideas

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone recommend some cool wedding favor ideas (other than the usual candle, picture frame or candy route) that don't cripple the bank? We had looked into these nice personalized highend olive oil bottles but they quoted me like $8 per bottle which would hit me for like $1200 plus. Trying to keep it at the $5 range. Thanks!!

Hi.  We got our engagement party favors from Lidia's Italian Imports in Elmwood Park.  They are very cute...2 coasters on the sides of a wine bottle stopper.  We will probably do our wedding favors from there as well.  They have a nice selection and will work with you on the price.  Good luck :)

Thanks! Its nice seeing it all in my friend's purses or cars after the fact.  Like I said, everyone took it and began using it... That was what we wanted, no little dishes or vases, etc...

I know this is candy, but my husband molded chocolate lobsters for each of our guests and we had a tag on them that said something along the lines of "He's her lobster" from friends.  They were unique and homemade, and we still get compliments on them to this day, 6 months after the wedding.  Plus, they were cheap as hell - about $100 for 200 lobsters, including bags, tags, twist ties, ribbon, etc.

</div><div>We're doing a photobooth...Never thought about it as being "instead" of favors, but rather that it IS the favor.  Not a favor in the traditional sense that there is one sitting at every placesetting, and I understand that every single guest will probably not use it, but we do consider it to be our "favor". I guess to be fair, you can also consider the Ferrero Rocher chocolates that our escort cards will be stuck into as a second favor...but we just decided to do that on a whim, not purposely as our favor!

We're thinking of getting a local baker to make us "K" cookies (which is the first letter of FI's last name).  Something that people will eat or give away.  I'm all for the useful favors (who needs one wine glass with two people's names on it?)

Btw, LOVE the Friends "lobster" reference!

I know this is candy..but we did choclate hockey pucks and hockey sticks.  We met playing hockey so it was a symbol of us.   We had a family member make them for us and for 200 of them it cost us about $200 for all the supplies, bags, ribbons, etc.    Everyone loved them and still talk to us about them.

We had a photobooth and our guests loved it.

Are you totally against candy? How about a box of two or three gourmet truffles or Godiva chocolate pieces? Edible favors seem to go over very well most of the time.

We didn't want to do the candy since we used it for our engagement party. I proposed to my fiance on a gondola in the Charles River in Boston so my mom designed a miniture gondola with a chocolate covered strawberry in it (which I had with champagne and cheese when I proposed to her).

Now about the photobooth? You can do that instead of the wedding favors??

I'm doing a photobooth instead of favors.  (the Pizza slicer idea was from my engagement party).  But Photobooths can be very expensive.

Yes, I know they aren't the cheapest things in the world. Maybe some of the DJs I will visit offer them and and we could negotiate on a blend of services.

Pharo - I am doing photobooth w/accompanied frames for the photos. Also a heads up, not sure if you guys are doing viennese hr, but we also got miniature cardboard treasure chests with wax papers so people can take home a slice of cake or whatever they want from the viennese hr home with them since they will prob be so full, kind of like a mini cake box. Since our venue is a restaraunt its allowed, so might want to talk to John/Bob if that interests you.

Sure, people can take the strips home as a favor.

Favors aren't even mandatory, so anything you might choose to offer would be more than enough. You can even skip favors if you wish, and nobody would really notice. You're already giving them dinner and drinks and entertainment, so a tiny photo frame or a baggie of M&Ms won't make a difference.

Hey altimat873!! Very good idea with the extra frame and the little boxes.

We negotiated with Bob to give us a customized dessert plate with our cake and a couple of dessert displays inside the room for:
1.) to reduce the cost (major reason)
2.) we didn't want people to leave the room for the viennese hour since we felt it might slow down the end of the party.

I know you are working with Premier. What was the damage on the photobooth if you don't mind me asking?

I know it's kinda along the lines of frames but we are putting the place cards in photo frame coasters. That way after the wedding, they have a customizable photo coaster. We thought they were neat!

My friend bought truffles for her wedding in September. She ordered them from Genevieve's Chocolates on Ray Street in Garfield. They were delicious! Best of all, they boxed them for her -- it was a white box with their names or wedding date (can't remember) stamped on them. All she had to do was pick them up. I know they were under $5. She did one per couple.

OOPS just realized you said "no candy." But to anyone else still open to candy, I'd highly recommend the chocolates!

I actually didnt book the photobooth through premier, but if I remember correctly they were actually pretty expensive since it comes with another assistant (i.e. another person to tip lol), I think they were around $600-$800 which I found photo booths cheaper at other places, but since you booked with them - maybe they can work it into your original package.

There are lots of things you could do. I love the idea of doing a Milk and Cookie bar. Or you could do freshly baked bookies in glassine bags. Someone on PW did homemade chocolate covered pretzels, or you could do caramel apples. As you can tell im a big fan of edible favors lol. it doesnt necessarily have to be candy. Ive also seen mini bottles or Port Wine with custom labels. I also love salted caramels, and considered making them myself... but decided i was in way over my head. I ended up going with alternate favors of chocolate-whiskey cookie and gourmet marshmallows, both packaged with the same label. Its costing me about 3 dollars or so per favor :)

I was just at a wedding last fall and the favors were frames that fit the photobooth pictures we took that night.  They also doubled as place cards.  In the clear frame, there was the nmae and table number and at the bottom a note saying to use the frame for the pictures.  I thought it was cute and we have our frame with our picture in our bedroom.  It's nice because it's hard to do much with those long photobooth pics other than stick them on your fridge...this was a nice alternative
