Wanting to get married oceanside!!!

This is my first blog!!!  I recently moved to Raleigh, and became engaged!!!  Since I'm new to the area I don't know affordable areas or locations for a wedding/reception location.  I want to save as much as possible, so any location ideas anyone could share would be appreciated.  We're also  looking into an aquarium wedding/reception, but I want to see my options.  Thanks ladies!

    I got married at the Surf City Center in Surf City, NC (Topsail Island). It was amazing. We had our ceremony right on the beach and then our reception in the building. We spent a little less than $7k on our whole wedding including renting a beach house. The Surf City Center is very reasonable in price and includes tables and chairs. You can bring in your own catering, alcohol and everything else. The staff there is also wonderful. The building is right on the beach with big windows so your guests can see the beach during the reception. I highly recommend this location!

    The website is:http://surfcity.govoffice.com/index.asp?Type=GALLERY&SEC={50799440-4A1F-4E5F-B260-C62D69B9BC2B}

    you might have to look at the left bar and click on Tourism and Welcome Center and then click on Surfside Center.

    First, congrats on your engagement and welcome to the board!

    I second the Surf City Center.  I got married there back in September and it was perfect! The guys at the surf City center are so wonderful to work with.

    We did our wedding for about $7k as well. Depending on the time of year you are looking to get married, beach weddings can be very affordable.

    here are links to the photos from our wedding to give you an idea of what everything looked like.

    I got married at Kure Beach on the Fort Fisher State Recreation area and had our reception at Halyburton Park. Everything turned out beautifully and all the vendors I worked with were amazing and affordable. Take a look at my previous posts (little magnifying glass at the bottom of my post) for my vendor reviews. :o)

    I dont know if I really really want to get married ON the beach.  I would like a location that has windows looking onto the sand and water.  But then where do I have the recption?  I'm definately having trouble finding the location that can accomodate both.  Has anyone ever rented a house for a wedding?  Some of them on realty sites look like they could hold the number of guests we want, but it is a cheaper or more expensive option?  We aren't looking to get married at a church, so how could a do a wedding and reception at a house without it being on the windy sand?  I appreciate all of your suggestions!

    I'm getting married at the Southport Community Building. They have a deck overlooking the Cape Fear River (not the beach, but it is gorgeous), and then having the reception inside the building.
