Thank you card wording?

Good morning,

So i'm trying to figure out how to word our thank you cards. I wanted something short and sweet on the inside but i'm not sure what to write especially when i'll be sending thank cards to people that couldn't make it and sent gifts/$, like i couldn't put thanks for coming to our wedding (not in those words of course). We will also be writing some more personal for each individual. Any sugguestions?

TIA

Are you writing this or having it printed? I would hand write each thank you card to make it personal and not included anything pre-printed.

Is using a pre-printed thank you - totally tacky?? I have got the worst hand writing in the world and I think my FI's is worse!!!  So was thinking maybe go with pre-printed. However handwritten does seem much more personal.

A lot of girls say handwritten on this board. i think it does give it a better feel.  But I agree my handwriting is crappy.  So i think I will put a 1 liner in the middle of each thank you and the write something short in each to personalize.  Hopefully my handwriting for 1 sentence will be legible.

Unless you also put something personal, yes.

OP- I had the same dilemma. I opted (thanks to advise on here) to leave it blank. It's much more personal to write something in each, even if you were planning on writing in addition to the pre-printed note.

If you want a generic pre-printed statement in all the cards, you could put something like, "Thank you for sharing our joy."

Yes, ONLY having a pre-printed message (even if you handwrite their names and your signatures) is very tacky. Always handwrite a personal note.

For the people who attended the wedding, I usually wrote, "Thank you for coming to our wedding! We were really glad to see you and we hope you had a nice time. [new paragraph] Thank you so much for the generous gift. We're saving up to buy a home in the next year or so, and we really appreciate your kindness. Love, M and D."

For the people who didn't attend but sent us a gift, I usually wrote, "Thank you for sending us the generous wedding gift, and for thinking of us on our special day. We're saving up to buy a home in the next year or so, and we really appreciate your kindness. We hope you're doing well and we hope to see you soon!"

I just thinking to have a short line printed then we'd write the something personal. But i guess we can write them all out since i do have nice hand writting and we didn't have more then 50 guest @ our wedding

I have absolutely terrible hand writing -  I definitely would opt for the 1 liner plus something personal - and you know what, I do NOT think it is tacky - because I understand the bride and groom do not always have time to write 300 thank yous.

Anyways, any suggestions for more ideas on what that 1 liner could  be?

Honestly? Have no pre-printed line and hand write messages for each guest.

It doesn't matter if you "don't have time" or "have bad handwriting."  Your guests/friends/relatives are sending you a gift and they should be thanked properly. I much rather receive a thank you note that takes me a few minutes to decipher/read than a pre-printed card - with or without an added "personal line."

If the couple does not have time to write personal thank yous to all guests, they should invite less people.
