All Inclusive Vacation

Between the 2 of us, FI and I have 5 jobs.   We have never been away together for more then 2 days, and we've never been on a plane together.   (workaholic much?)

Ive made an executive decision that we're going on a vacation.  4-5 days, at an all inclusive.  Ive narrowed it down to Dreams in P*nta Cana, and Secrets in Jamaica (I think lol) 

Any feedback on either resort chain?  Or suggestions?

    What do you like to do?  Both of those places are not the safest to trek off the resort, but if you enjoy hanging out on the beach/pool and doing most of the resort activities, then you will be fine.  The resorts in PC are typically much bigger.  I would go to one that is adults only.  Biggest difference I read about with AI's is the food.  I don't think it's an issue though if you are only going for a few days.  The people that go for a week tend to get tired of the food mid way through at some places (according to reviews).

    I would pick which-ever is the better deal

    I have been to a Secrets resort in Mexico--it was amazing...and NO KIDS! Dreams has children there...that would be my selling point!

    We just booked a trip to P*unta Cana for our first anniversary and we narrowed it down to either Dreams or Excellence.  We ended up choosing Excellence based on reccomendations from friends/family who have been there.  but while doing research, I only read great things about Dreams.

    I haven't been to either but FI and I have been to Sandals which is also another great AI. Just to give you more options!

    I would do Secrets in Jamaica.  Secrets has a better reputation (not to say Dreams is bad) and depending on the time of year, you could have a lot of kids at Dreams (big family resort).  Also, you have to be careful with the food/water in DR.  A lot of people get a stomach thingy...either while there or when they get home.

    We are going to Secrets in jamaica in 6 weeks.  I cant wait.  It looks amazing.  I have been to the DR before and its nice.  Jamaica looks a little nicer and I have heard better things about it.  Either vacation you pick I am sure you will love it.

    I love Secrets... and I never got tired of their restaurants and I don't eat seafood.. so typically 1 restaurant is completely out for me.  I went to Secrets Capri in Mexico!

    thanks for all the input!!!   i was leaning towards Jamaica, and I think thats the way we're gonna go.   well....FI doesnt know yet.   I cant decide whether or not i should ask for his input, or just put him on the plane and suprise him.  LOL   

    Goaliegirl........a friend of mine just got back from Excellence in Rivera Maya.  She said it was hands down the best resort shes ever been to.   Have fun!!!I

    Thanks!  We went to Jamaica for our HM so we wanted to go somewhere else for our anniversary.  There was a lot of great deals for DR, so we decided to go there.    A bunch of people we know went there are raved about it.  I can't wait!!

    I've been to 3 resorts in P*unta Cana (i still find it hilarious you can't type it out haha) but never at Dreams. The island is great though, but you should probably stay within the resort or at a big group excursion (you really have no reason to leave anyway, which works out great!)
