Mother of the bride

Please, please, please rec places for my mother's dress. We went to every single store in the mall and found nothing. My mom is in her early 40's and some typical MOB dress look matronly on her. Can you guys recommend stores where I can go. Times a running for us!!

My mom is not a typical MOB lady either, we ended up at Macys Bridal at Menlo Park Mall and my mom actually chose a bridesmaids dress there- it was hot, a royal blue one shoulder.  No sequined coat gown. My other suggestion is Hollywood Bridal in Kenilworth. Some of theres were more attractive. GL

It's more of a boutique but my mom bought her dress at tony conte in hawthorne.  The lady's name is Angela and the shop is on the second floor.  Good luck!

My mom had a really hard time finding a dress. She originally thought she wanted the typical mom dress -  long skirt, with a jacket, but she ended up falling in love with something she never would've even thought of trying on. We found it at Bridal Fantasy in Avenel... actually, the lady that works there had her try it on, so she technically "found it". They were really super friendly and helpful there, and they had a good selection of different dresses we hadn't seen in other stores previously.
She did end up ordering it from Hollywood Bridal in Kenilworth though, because they had a MUCH better price, and don't charge for alterations.

    Dream Dresses in Old Bridge
I never bought a dress from them but they have a huge selection of dresses.

Bridal Fantacy in Avenel is a fantastic, a very small (not fancy at all)
but Lucy is the best, she will beat any price and alterations are included.

I have also been to Hollywood Bridal and they are great as well.

My mom got hers at East West Bridals - they had a huge selection, this is her dress which I don't see as classic MOB but she loves it and she looks fabulous, appropriate without look old fashioned

EDIT: she got this in black

MOG/FMIL got this dres sin black - a bit much for me (over the top and revealing) but it was one of her better options she showed me

My mom is stylish and in her 40s and wouldn't have been caught dead in a traditional MOB dress.  She found a cap-sleeve, knee-length dress at Nordstrom - for under $150.  They had a ton there that she liked, and all at great prices!

I second this. My mom is very young, too, and also very picky. Angela was awesome to work with and really found dresses that looked amazing on my mom and were the style she was looking for.

My mom got hers (by Teri Jon) at Saks. We went to Bijou, but the "mother" dresses were mainly strapless with boleros. The dress my mom got at Saks had 3/4-length sleeves. It wasn't frumpy - it was form-fitting while still being age-appropriate.

Check out Montage dresses- my mom swears by this line and got her MOB dress for both my sister's wedding and mine from this designer: http://montagebymoncheri.com/montage/

Huge selection and really nice, not frumpy typical MOB at all for the most part. She got hers at Park Ave Bridal in Verona

My mom got hers at Sisters in Garfield. She was able to buy it right off the rack and got a great deal.

Yes to Montage. My mom ended up ordering two, since she couldn't decide (both at Tony Conte), but she hated almost every other MOB line out there.
