Bijou Bridal

Soo I went to Bijou Bridal in Paramus for the 2nd time today. Is it me or does it seem like every dress in that store is supposedly made by their private designer?? Every dress I liked the lady said it was by their private designer Stephan Jolie. I dont even know if I should believe this bc I brought in a pic of a dress I like thats from a diff designer and they had same dress and they said its from their private designer as well!

 Anybody else getting this??

My dress from Bijou is a Sophia Tolli   Only one or two racks were from their private designer.  Did you walk around their full room?

When I went there they wouldn't tell me the designer! I think they try to keep it unknown so you buy it there.

My dress is by Stephan Jolie.  I haven't seen anything like it anywhere else.  I never asked the name of the designers of the other gowns I tried on though.  I have been very happy with everything at Bijou and cannot wait for my first fitting on the 20th.  If you find a dress you love there and it's in your budget, I say go for it.  If there are similar dresses by other designers, go try them on at another salon that carries that designer.  I think you should be 100% comfortable and happy with the dress and salon before buying your wedding gown, so if you aren't sure, keep looking.  Good luck!

Park Avenue does this too.  Turns out the dress I picked was from an exclusive line by a well known bridal line.. Trying to find that dress in another salon was a real B and mentally drained me since there are not pics anywhere.  I wouldn't doubt many salons do this.  Sheisty...<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-yell.gif" border="0" alt="Yell" title="Yell" />

Mine is a Stephan Jolie as well! :-) It was the only dress that I tried on that was a "private designer." Lisa, my consultant, me told me the designer of every dress I was trying on.

I think every bridal line had dresses that look similar. Every bridal shop and/or designer is trying to replicate Kate Middleton's dress now, too. So I wouldn't worry. You have to feel completely confident with what you pick - in the end, you will be the one wearing it. Good luck!!! (just curious, who was your consultant?)

@ Kozacs, I'm curious to see what you picked!!! Mine is a Stephan Jolie, too! And I agree, I've never seen anything like mine, either.

@odonnellalys Mine is strapless, modified sweetheart neckline (i think?) with a small band of material on the waist with 2 flowers to the side.  The skirt is all ruffles in a veritcal fashion, not layered horizontally.  It was the perfect mix of simple elegance with a fun flair!  How about yours??

    Sounds beautiful!!!!
Mine is also a modified sweetheart neckline; ivory satin. A-Line fitted in the waist with lots of rouching on the side...then pick ups halfway down the dress. It flares out and has a bubble bottom, creating a very princess like feel without the ballgown. The train is awesome.  I cannot wait to post pics from my first fitting!!!

All the dresses I tried on were Stephan Jolie as well. I dont know I just find it a little strange that they are all from that designer which is their "private designer."
Also the reason I'm skeptical is bc a few other bridal stores I went to that I mentioned I liked a dress there and I said it was made by their private designer they said "they tell that to everyone."
It's just annoying bc they dont allow you to take pictures and since its from their private designer you cant even find it online. Soo just a little annoying that I have to make multiple appointments just to show the dress to my mom, mom in law to be, and anyone else that wants to see it , that cant all come on same day!

Lisa was my consultant too!  Maybe she's the only one who tells which designers are on each rack???  But she was very open and upfront with information about each one.

I was only allowed to take pictures once we found the dress and said we're buying it.  I went to other salons that wouldn't let me take pictures either (even of BM dresses) when we were trying to choose.  I think it's the policy of a lot of places so that you don't fall in love with a dress there, then search around for the same one elsewhere for cheaper.

Mine was also a Stephan Jolie from Bijou in Paramus. I got married 10/31/2010 and LOVED my dress. Like you guys, I hadn't heard of him, couldn't find a website or anything but the dress was unbelievably beautiful.
  • kozacs i think we have the same dress..... i go tonight for my first fitting!!!

I just bought my dress at Bijou, .odly enough, I am reading these posts because I was trying to find pics online and I am getting nowhere. Love my dress but disappointed that I can't look at it online.
  • I was a little disappointed because they would not allow me to take a photo to send my mom while I was shopping there with friends :(  My mom lives hours away and I wanted to do some preliminary shopping and comparing so I can make the most of my time spent with her when she comes in October to help me decide. I know I enjoyed the dress, a Stefan Jolie dress, but they have no photos online and I wasnt allowed to take one to send her, so thinking back to the dress, I cant remember what it was about it that I liked to decide whether or not to schedule an appointment there when she makes it out for dress shopping. The whole process is severely overwhelming and I wanted to narrow things down.... getting pics to help me compare and decide what is worth a second look with my mom has really helped me out.... not sure I will make the trip back for that dress even tho I remember having a great reaction to it.
  • mine is stefan jolie as well and i am in love with my dress my consultant haneen was a gem!! she really went above and beyond...so far no comlain my first dress viewing is july for inspection
