Cathedral Basilica the Sacred Heart in Newark, NJ - DECORATIONS

Has anyone been married (or going to be married) at the Cathedral Basilica the Sacred Heart? If so how are you planning, or what are some idea you've had on decorating the church?

I'm trying to not go crazy with flowers so I can keep the costs down but thhe church is so big and I don't know how churches are decorated for weddings.

What are the usual costs for wedding decorations??

THANKS!!

i visited the basilica for the first time the other day - it's beautiful!
i wonder if you would even need to decorate it very much. maybe just some flower sprays and some light decorations on the pews.

We're considering using the basilica....truthfully, you dont need to do anything! Its so breathtaking that people really wont notice your decor..if anything id do pew bows or something simple. The basilica has a ton of rules and restrictions which is what is turning me off right now...

<div>Exactly.  No mather what you do in terms of flowers, unless it's huge, it will just get lost.  I'd suggest keeping it simple, maybe just some flowers on the pews and two alter arrangements.  </div>

I was also thinking I could get away with not decorating the church since it is so beautiful on its own. I know that alot of the things I am putting hours of thinking and work into will probably go unnoticed by I still can't keep myself from ruminating about it.

maybe altar arrangements... i'll decide when I see the price...

Too bad the three couples getting married that day can't meet and agree to split the cost of the altar arrangements... i don't care about the flowers or colors. That would be nice although highly unlikely.

    Hi,
Can you give me an idea of the cost for the Basilica?  Are you a member of that particular chuch?  Someone mentioned restrictions...do you know what they were?   We live about an hour away, but our reception is nearby and the Basilica is gorgeous!!
    Thanks for your thoughts,
    Lindsay
  • Does anyone know how much the donation fees are?
  • I'm getting married there next May, and it's $2000 for non-parishioners.
  • Hi, does the 2000 include music?
