I took my mom to Diane & Co in Freehold today to look at mother of the bride dresses. We walked in and the place was mobbed with girls looking for prom dresses and their moms. We put our names on the Mother of the Bride list, which had only 2 people ahead of us, and they told us it'd probably be about a 45 minute wait. I wasn't thrilled about waiting--I hate going to these types of stores during prom season, but my mom needs to pick and order a dress fairly soon so we have no choice. I politely asked if we could be let in to look at the dresses to see if there was anything we'd even want to stay to try on and they said no. Understood--while again, I wasnt thrilled, this is not totally uncommon practice. The girl whom I asked was very adamant (read: snotty) about telling me that they dont allow this. It was simply a question, I was not trying to argue with her at all. We waited for a very long time. An hour and a half went by, so I stepped up to the front desk to ask what our status in line was (remember, there were only *2* people ahead of us). At this point, apparantly the owner(?) had been getting complaints from people around her (she was on the other side of the room from me) and she started saying very loudly things like: You have suggestions? You think you can run this place better? You've been to every other store in Jersey haven't you? You don't have to wait, we're not making you wait. But you want to. Because you know you've been to every other store and didn't find anything.
Her comments were very arrogant to say the least.
I matter of factly said, well you could give people appointments. Apparantly that unleashed the beast because she started yelling at me. Then a younger girl (the snotty one from earlier) got in front of me and started yelling at me also. Saying that this wasn't a restaurant and you cant make a reservation. Funny, making appointments seems to work for every single other dress store in the country. But I digress. The two of them took out probably all their pent up anger on me, for making a simple suggestion.
I dont know why they would make the moms wait so very long when there are tons of people working there. Apparently, a high school girl's money is more valuable to them. Anyway, I dont really write reviews like this, but these people were so beyond rude to me for no good reason, I just had to say something somewhere. I wish I never wasted my time. These women think they are really something special, and they treat everyone accordingly. Only the men working the place were polite.
The worst of it is, by the time this was all happening, they were FINALLY ready to let us in to their oh-so-secret dress room, but we wanted nothing to do with them at that point and left. So unfortunately I can not speak to the selection there, but it wasn't worth being publicly berated by a shop owner/worker who apparantly was angry at everyone and found 1 person to let loose on. Totally unacceptable.
I know I would not buy there even if we had a chance to look and found something. And if you must go, do yourself a huge favor, and avoid the weekends. Unfortunately we had no choice because I work too many hours a week, and too far away. But I highly recommend you do NOT give a place that treats customers like this your business!

Re: Diane and Co - Horrible Experience
Over all, we were not thrilled. My aunt bought her dress there before they were snotty but a few months later when it was time to alter, they did a beautiful job- customer service was terrible- making them wait an hour after their appointment because they decided they could squeeze someone in before her.
[QUOTE]Thanks for the info. My Mom still hasn't bought her dress and I live in the Freehold area, so I will make sure we avoid that place!

Make that two of us! Thank you for the review; I'm sorry you and your mom had to go through that experience. Good luck finding a dress!
Also, someone mentioned not having anywhere to seat. Maybe they changed it around, but I sat the whole time I was there...
In the end- I think it's a good place to go to in order to try on a bunch of nice dresses, but don't order from them because their prices are beyond high.
[QUOTE]Wasn't that show Jerseylicious or Jersey something based on that store? It seemed like a hot mess.

<div>It was called Jersey Couture! And "hot mess" doesn't even begin to describe it! lol</div>

I am really glad that I have helped some of you avoid having the same experience.
I actually had no idea this store had a show on TV, I just happened to hear about it since I don't live too far away. Seems like the show has inflated their egos to the point where they think they can afford to treat their customers like crap. Eventually their reputation will get around and their business will suffer.
I did a quick search last night to see if I should also post this review on another website, and I found so many reviews essentially saying the same thing. I hadn't checked out the reviews beforehand because we only wanted to see if we liked anything, we weren't going to order before looking up their reviews and reviews of their alterations. Next time I won't make this mistake lol.
Also, don't they know with a bride comes a gaggle of bridesmaids, two mothers, and countless others attending? And that bride usually has sisters and friends who will also get married? And that many mothers have more than one child to marry? There's only 1 prom, maybe 2. I'm not saying they shouldnt cater to those girls, but not at the expense of their other lines of business that carry them the whole rest of the year when prom season is over!
