Name Change DMV

Has anyone changed their name at the DMV (for the title) when they had a lein on their car?  I was just wondering if I can do this or if I need to get fill out a form to have the lien released first?  I'm trying to only make one trip to the DMV.  Thanks!

Is it possible to call them and find out? I hate the DMV too!

I did.  They said I don't have to worry about the title, only license and registration.  so.. I went down there thinking it's the middle of the week and middle of the month.. only to wait in line for 20 minutes to get to the counter and find out there are 50 people in front of me and it would be another hour and a half!  So, I'll go next week when I have a day off.  Boo to the DMV.

DMV? What's that? I know of an MVC, but there's no DMV in New Jersey.

Ha!  I'm from VA and have only been here a year, so we had the DMV down there.

Welcome to our quirky state! It seems to be DMV in most states ... but in Massachusetts, it's called "the Registry." When I lived in Boston, I don't think I ever heard anyone call it RMV.
