Uwharrie Vineyards - Charlotte Venue

I have been looking at Uwharrie Vineyards for my Spring 2013 wedding.  Has anyone used them before? I love everything about it except it’s basically in the middle of nowhere and about 25-30 minutes away from the University area or hotels in general. What do you guys think...is that too far? It would mainly be immediate family needing hotels.

My brother got married there in October.  Its very prettty, sorta private.  Although, there isn't much traffic you aren't very far from the road (at least in my opinion).  The road curves-so despite the gravel driveway being sorta long like you would expect for a vineyard- it does curve closer to the building.  The reception area is large and there is a dressing room (a bit on the smaller side) for the bride to hide-out in.

It is a dry county so only wine is allowed!  If you have drinkers that will attend you might "loose" wedding guests to tailgating in the parking lot which is exactly what all the groomsmen did and the rest of my brother's buddies.  

Its nice you can do the wedding in the vineyards or on the covered deck.  My brother's wife choose a hotel in Charlotte over 45 minutes away for wedding guests and that was a burden on them.  I didn't need a hotel but I had to go to that hotel since I was a bridesmaid.  there are hotels closer!

Go visit is and do a wine tasting--its very good--and see if it fits your style.  Good Luck!
