NWR: hate Geico

My policy went up $80 for 6 months!  That's an extra $160 a year - BS!!  I called to complain because I'm an awesome driver!  They told me that the state allowed them to raise their rates and everyone's policy went up.

Can't wait until next renewal when I'm outta there.. NJ Manufacturers Here I come!! (FI has a policy through them)

Anyone love their car insurance company?

I have to say... I really do love Progressive!
We do car & home owners insurance through them.
They have all kinds of discounts, and they actually TELL you about them, you don't have to beg for them!
    Good luck with Geico. =(

NJ allowed most of them to raise their rates.  Our went up slightly bc I had a small accident during the snow. So I figured it went up bc of that.  Who knows.  Its so funny thought FI was just complaining how he pays for money for cable from comcast then he does for Car Insurance. LOL

I have Progressive, and they're not that bad (despite the rate increase they just gave me for no reason!)  I have had to deal with them in the past b/c of an accident, and they were really easy to work with.  Nearly everything was conducted over their website.  Progressive had actually given me a cheaper quote than Geico when I was shopping around.

Utilizing the internet and keeping my account information easily accessible should probably the standard in the car insurance industry, but to me it's a huge step up from my previous company: Hanover who changed to Proformance who changed to Palisades.  They were never even able to find my account or assist me with anything when I needed it.  It was always a huge headache.

I have Geico and CRAZY high insurance but that is because I was in a pretty bad accident in March!  Luckily, they told me that the insurance will go down when I am married (YAY!).  FI pays less for collision than I do for bare bones minimum!

Christine - When did your policy get renewed?  You just scared the crap out of me because my policy renewed in June and I never check out the numbers (stupid me).  Anyway, mine are still the same as they have been... maybe they'll try to raise mine during my next cycle?

I just got my renewal for Liberty Mutual and my rates were raised as well. I live in Massachusetts though but I guess it happened in NJ too!

You don't need to wait for your current policy to expire to change your car insurance company, we have now esurance and it was a lot cheaper than what Geico was charging us!

Allstate kept doing that to me for the last year... so I left. I have USAA now and I LOVE them.  They are so nice and helpful.  FI also financed his auto loan through them and they have been great.  I totally recommend them.

I have Progressive, and they've been pretty good. We had some problems when I joined FI on his policy, but it looked like some idiot drone on the computer couldn't type things in properly. When I called customer service, the woman was very apologetic and went over everything with me to make sure it was correct. (Someone had put in that a 2005 Prius didn't have any anti-theft devices, that a 2005 ticket was 2009, etc.)

Avoid High Point. My parents had put me on High Point when I was a teenager, and I stayed with them through college, because of good student discounts, but once I got older, they just jacked the rates up and wouldn't bring them down. When I called to cancel and move over to Progressive, the woman was a b!tch and asked if I'd told them about my one (Not at fault) accident and my tickets. Then she told me High Point could knock off $30 to get me to stay. Progressive was saving me $300! When I pointed out the discrepancy, she acted as if saving $30 at High Point was more impressive than $300 at Progressive!

    Ew. I hate car insurance!

We saved $750/year between homeowners and auto when we switched from Geico to Liberty Mutual. So far, so good!

FI and I both have Geico...I renewed in May and it went up $7/month and FI's didn't change at all.  I called to ask about it and they told me it was a company-wide hike, but it makes no sense I got a hike and FI got nothing.  Definitely switching next renewal.  My company gets discounted rates with MetLife that I hear are pretty good, so I'm gonna see what they quote me.
