Name Change????

i know we go over this every time one of us gets married but i have a little different situation....

DH and I are going on honeymoon in August (mexico). Are they going to ask me for any other form of identification besides my passport? We booked the HM in my maiden name and also got my passport in my maiden name....so boarding pass, resort reservation and passprt will all match.

i want to go ahead and change my name now but wasn't sure if they would ask for my social security card or drivers license for any reason when we travel?

Maybe someone who has already done this will know better, but I would call the airports and ask if they only ask for your passport or if they also ask for your Drivers license.  If they do ask for both it could  be a problem if they don't match...also, if something were to happen while you are in MX (heaven forbid) but if you had to deal with the embassy or replace a passport or anything, I wonder if it would be a problem if you had already changed your SS card/DL??  Just a thought.  I really have no idea.

I wouldn't ever take my SS card on an international trip, so I can't imagine anyoen asking for that, but again might cause problems if you were to lose your passport or something.

We just got back from Hawaii & all of my stuff was done in my maiden name & your license has to match what the airline has. They will ask for your license at the airport. You may want to check with the airports just to make sure if you do change how will it affect.

i think if you fly within the states you have to show your drivers license b/c you don't have to have a passport but we are going out of the country so we will have our passports, i just want to make sure they wont compare my passport to DL for any reason. i think i should be okay to go ahead and change it all.

We went to Mexico and I just used my passport for everything. You can use any ID you want at the airport(passport or license), most people just use the license for domestic flights because there's no need for the passport. They shouldn't have to look at your license for anything though if you have your passport.

If I were you, I would hold off on the name change until you get back from your honeymoon.  If, God forbid, your passport got lost on your trip, you might be in for a huge headache.

Married life is great!!! I love it! TO be on the safe side I would probably call to find out. I know you want to have it all changed--- . LOL I am still working to get all my stuff changed.

i may change the social security card (wont be taking ss card with me) but hold off on the drivers license.....GOD FORBID anything go wrong, we will still have paper copies of everything with us and at home, include marriage certificate.

We just got back from Mexico and I never used my driver license. I always had my passport ready. You might want to hold off though just in case...like you said GOD FORBID something happens.

I just went to Mexico in March, I only had to show my boarding pass and passport. As long as they match you should be good to go!
