Can I meet w/ Florists if I dont have colors yet?

I want to start meeting w/ florists, but I am still clueless on my wedding colors. I know I want tall centerpieces and the style, but no clue on color/flower types, etc. Can I still meet w/ florists or do I need to wait until I have colors, etc? Thanks!

A lot of florist told me not to make the appointment until I had my dress and the bridesmaid dresses ordered. That way the style/formality and the colors were already determined. The colors you want will largely determine the flowers that fit in that color scheme so I'd say to wait. Is there a reason you need to meet with them now? We booked ours about 9 months prior to the date.

I was told not to meet with them until you have your bridesmaid dresses.  That way you're not wasting their time or yours.

I would say wait until you have your colors. Like pp said, the dress determines formality and the colors determine what type of flowers to use. You may become frustrated when you meet with the florists and they can't make good recommendations or give cost estimates.

I agree w/ PP wait until you have colors selected and your dress and the BM dresses are ordered.

agree with pp's. I did go into florists randomly just to look at their profiles to see if I liked their work, but the florist was one of the last big things I worked on. I probably actively started looking about 5-6 months out and booked 4-5 months out. It was just very low on my priority list. Every one I met with asked for colors and to see what my dress/BM dresses looked like.

I also think you should wait until you have your colors, that being said I had my colors picked, my BMs had their dresses I decided on my flowers at 9 months out only to completely change my mind at 6 months out. Thankfully my florist was very understanding and my new centerpieces are so much nicer!

    Agree with PP's.

I don't really think I have "wedding colors" but the shade of your dress and colors of BM dresses are a must to make sure the flowers you select don't class.

Also take into accont the style of your venue. At first I wanted to go with more of an old whimsical style and my florist explained that my flowerss should compliment the style of the wedding which is more modern.

Ok great thanks for the advice. I guess I wanted to talk to the florist to get it done w/ and since I am scared I may never decide on a color I figured I would at least start on this part.

I think I may start a new tread on how to select a color and bridesmaid dresses for a group that ranges in size from size 0 to plus sized, includes redheads, etc. Not an easy task haha.

    Thanks again!

Well, you can never please everyone. While I'm all for "this is your day" I understand wanting everyone to be comfortable and look good. Why not go with black dresses this way you won't clash with the flowers you pick.

Thanks- thats what I wanted to do- some kind of black dress with a color sash. My sister said black isnt good for a summer wedding. Then I thought ok, like a soft champage type color looks nice on everyone, and the dress shop said no since my dress will be diamond white and that clashes? I have no idea- I am not a fashion/artistic person haha.

I thought nice black dresses in any style they want- they can vary styles, I really dont care as long as they all like it and are comfortable and the length is the same.  But I cant find many two tone dresses that come in plus sizes as well
