Westmount Country Club Help!!

Hello brides and brides to be!

I was interested in taking a look at the Westmount Country Club.. I have emailed the venue about such but before we go on the tour, could anyone tell me about their pricing? How much per plate... what is the minimum number of people? Any experience's they liked or didn't like... their food... ceremony fee's...ect. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Re: Westmount Country Club Help!!

  • I was turned off by the fact that they make you use certain florists.  I wanted the option to use whatever florist I wanted.

I looked there when I first started searching, and I can't remember 100%, but I'm pretty sure that it was $135++ for the smaller room on a Sunday in early April (we were looking at 4/7/13).  The minimum was 150 I believe.  They gave us some food while we were looking around (just some tastes, not a full tasting) and it was ok.  Nothing that spectacular, in my opinion.
  • They quoted us minimum guarantees for the Continental Room of 150 on Fridays/Sundays and 200 on Saturday night.  I can PM you the pricing info they gave me.

When you make your appointment, try to get either Fred or Stephanie.  We are working with Fred and he is a doll.  They will offer you food and drinks during your visit so that you can taste some of the CH food that is served.  We thought the food was wonderful - and we were there during an actual wedding.

You do have to use on of WCC's house florists.  They give you four options to choose from (Atlas, Pedestals, Petals Premier and Spitz & Peck).  To some people that's a big deal, to others it's not.  We didn't mind.  Also, they will also charge you a maitre'd fee in addition to the 20% service charge.  This is not entirely uncommon, but again to some people this is a big deal.  Happy planning :)
  • We looked there and were turned off not only by the fact that you must use one of their florists who are expensive but the person we are dealing with had this attitude as if he thought he was in the mafia.  The place is beautiful but not worth the price to pay with negative things I've read from other brides that experienced issues with the same person on the day of their wedding.  We read reviews on other wedding sites so I would suggest doing the same.  The pricing depends on the time of year you are getting married as well.  I believe a November price came to about $185pp after taxes and gratuities and January was about $40 less than that.  Good luck :-)
  • We got married at the WCC in November and worked with Stephanie- she gave us the best possible experience.  We were in the grand ballroom, min 215 and I think $140 pp plus tax and tip. The food and service was incredible on the night of, and we never had an issue leading up to the wedding.
  • I am getting married at the Westmount next Feb.  I worked with Stephanie and found her easy to deal with.  My FI used to Valet there alot in college and we assumed it would be out of our price range but Stephanie really came through for us.  She is also still accomodating even after we booked - I have been back 2x since we booked b/c of family members who want to view the place (parent's are divorced).  She has always welcomed us to come by on a weekend, show my mom, then dad and stepmom the place and have some food from their tastings.

Yes, you have to use one of their florists - personally I didn't mind and would have called at least one of the recommended places anyway when doing some research.  We ended up booking one of their recommended DJ's as well - and not for lack of me trying to find a better deal, they gave us the best offer for everything we wanted.  (DJ was not mandatory - just recommended).

We are getting married on a Friday in February with 150 min in the small ballroom.  I think both their ballrooms and cocktail hour spaces are amazing, I fell in love when I walked in and I actually don't think their website does the rooms any justice.  So if you like it - check it out, one visit can't hurt.

PM if you want the pricing info and I will send all the details over :)

$135(not incl taxes and service charge)  for Friday or Sunday for 2012. It goes up slightly for 2013. Don't recall the Saturday price - maybe $165 or 185? They didn't have any Saturday or Friday dates left when I went in.  Minimum for Friday or Sunday in Grand Ballroom is 225 and 250 on a Saturday.  Don't know about the smaller room as I wasn't interested in it.

We contemplated doing a ceremony there and were quoted $1000.

i'm getting married there in August, my best friend got married there a few years back and the cocktail hour and room will blow you away when you are there for a wedding.

I also worked with Fred who is great.

  • I've been there twice for weddings. It is seriously the most gorgeous venue I've ever been to. The only complaint I have is that the last time I was there the main entree was terrible...neither me or my DH ate it (we both ordered the prime rib). It just had no flavor and the mashed potatoes were overdone. Other people at our table tried different entrees and I heard them saying they liked their food, so maybe it was just the beef. The cocktail hour was amazing though, so was dessert. The pricing my friends paid is in line with what everyone above said. About the florist situation...when my friend told me she was paying $6k for her flowers I thought she was insane. I figured she was getting screwed since she was forced to use one of their florists. However, a year later when I had to book a florist for my own wedding I ended up paying more than she did (by choice obviously...but made me realize flowers can be very expensive). I think she paid $150/centerpice (tall, orchids, hanging crystals, etc.) and I paid around $225 for mine (from a different vendor). In all honesty, if you're paying $165++/head to eat, you should have a pretty decent budget for flowers and all the other wedding details anyway. My friend also used their preferred DJ, Jam Music, and they did an awesome job and their pricing was very reasonable for what she got too. Some other venues I think are in line with WCC are the Venetian and The Palace - I haven't been to either of those, but I've heard great things about them...especially the Venetian.

  • It is beautiful, food is good - but I HATE the way the rooms are set up.  Think of each of your guest's experience when they are sitting in the furtherest corner and what they will and won't be able to see.
  • Prices are all over the place depending on the date, at least that is what I have seen.
