Last minute bail....vent!

So several weeks ago, I asked my sister (who is a hairdress and will be doing my hair) if she would like to make a few bucks by doing my 6 bridesmaids' hair.  Just simply styled and she said that she would as long as there were no updos involved because she doesn't do updos.

I sent her a message yesterday and asked her how long she thinks it would take to do all of the girls hair and she replied and said "You know I don't do updos, I will still do your hair but I'm not going to be responsible for your girls and I will have Jaden (my niece/flower girl) with me"

I know that she's had a lot of drama going on and is super scatterbrained but come on.  I don't talk to my sisters all too often, they are technically half sisters and they are 12 and 14 years older than me.  I don't want to cause any drama and throw a fit because we only have 10 days until the wedding and no one needs to be in a sour mood.  My sister has already been on the hot seat from some family situations lately and I really don't want to stir anything to make it worse. 

I knew I couldn't hit cruise control just yet...now what to do?  Any suggestions??

I thought she was clear when she told you weeks ago she didn't do updos.  Now you are asking her to do updos for everyone and the way you wrote this makes it sound like you were trying to do her a flavor.

I don't like liver today so chances are tomorrow I won't like liver either.  

I tink and apology is due.

I never asked her to do updos, I just asked her to style hair and she was okay with that.  Now she doesn't even remember that she said doing that.

I find it odd that with six women in a wedding and none of them will be putting their hair up.  I think your sister is just heading off a diaster when on the wedding day everyone wants an updo.

Hmm, at this point, I agree with you, I'd just let it go and find a better/stress-free solution.  Don't bug her about it and if she wasn't going to do anything complicated, well you can get it done by others.  

I'm sure the girls in your bridal party can work together and do each others' hair or their own, and it will look nice.  You could suggest that they do half up half down, with like a barrette or something to make it look uniform, or just all over curls (something simple).  Most people can do their own hair, and if someone is unsure, I'm sure that one of your other girls can help them out.  I think this would be less stressful than forcing your sister to do anything with their hair, whether she agreed before or not.

I agree with Meredith about your gals doing their own hair or helping each other out if needed.  I don't remember where you are getting married but I thought that it was near-ish to Charlotte?  Maybe another idea might be the Aveda Institute.  http://www.avedainstitutesbb.com/downloads/menu-metro.pdf
I really have no experience with them but my sister used the one in Chapel Hill for a wedding and really liked her hair and the fact that it was affordable.  Just throwing out an idea...it may be too far or not convenient at all.  Good luck!!!

Thanks ladies!  I know a couple of the BMs are really good with hairstyling.  Our wedding isn't overly formal so that's why we were just going to do styles.  Even I will be wearing my hair down with a simple headband. 

Addie - I will check that out...we are getting married in Lake Lure...closer to Asheville and kind of out in the middle of nowhere...maybe we can finagle something.

Malea, I agree- letting it go and figuring something else out is a good idea. However, I know it sucks when this happens (I'm having my own-bail-drama) just when you thought everything was done! I wonder, if you replied and said there wouldn't be any updos, like you had previously discussed...

But in the interest of avoiding drama, I might ask another one of your vendors up by Lake Lure if they have any ideas of salons in the area and what they charge. Then you can offer the option of a stylist to your girls, if they don't want to do their own hair.
