Can anyone offer any feedback on the Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ? Love the venue, but haven't heard of any reviews or thoughts on it. How's the food, service, price flexibility? Any feedback would be great!
i was a MOH in a wedding at Eagle Oaks over the summer. The venue was beautiful, but I thought it was really overpriced. There was very very little included in the price per person (which was pretty high as it was), and there was no flexibility in that number. Everything the bride and groom added, which are usually included in such a high price up here, cost them extra. I thought the food was mediocre. I am one of the least picky people in terms of food, and had to send my filet mignon back once, then it was even worse the second time that I didn't even eat it. I didn't get to eat the cake (which they spent a great deal of $ on b/c it wasn't included) because the wait staff took it away so fast (saw it on the table while dancing to a song i loved, and by the time the song was over, cake was gone). The service was ok - not bad, not good either. However, the "bridal attendant/coordinator" was nowhere to be found the entire night.
The grounds, including the view of the golf course during cocktail hour, is beautiful. However, you should also be aware that people can be walking around close to your wedding, because they don't close the club to their members. You also need to buy a membership to the club for a year to have a party there, or pay a fee, both of which are several thousand dollars.
I don't know where the bride and groom took the majority of their "couple" pictures, but the few the BP took out on the putting green were annoying b/c the staff was over us like hawks regarding our shoes (they didn't want the heels to create holes, which is understandable, but you don't need to stand over me like i'm 5, I get it, take off my shoes, or don't stand on the green).
I could go on, but I won't. I had a wonderful time at this wedding, don't get me wrong. However, I also know how much it cost this couple to get married there, because I helped them plan a good deal, and I just didn't think it was worth what they spent. Overall, I think the guests had a great time, but would be surprised at the price tag.
I attended a wedding there last year. It was nice, but since the outdoor ceremony is near the golf course, my FI and I got really squirmy every time we heard the "plink" of someone teeing off at the closest hole! We wanted to go play instead of sitting through the ceremony. LOL. Something to consider if you are planning on having ceremony on site and want guests to hear/concentrate every word.

I considered getting married there, but ended up getting married in a loft space in Philly (I know, totally different!). When I met with them two years ago, the cost per plate started at $140 per person.
My friend got married there 2 years ago. Its a beautiful place but for the money I think it was overpriced. I wasnt as impressed as I thought I would be.
Thanks everyone! The cermony will be at a church, so no worries about the tees. Understand where you're coming from though - i'd probably want to go out there and play too! Thanks for the detailed review,Tara. We would have been sold on the spot if it weren't for the price, so I'm trying to justify it somehow lol. Your feedback def has a few points we need to consider. Thanks again
Hi! I went to a wedding there in Fall 2008 and it was very very lovely. However, since I know what my friend paid 2 years ago, which was well over 200 a person maybe even 220 with tax, gratuity, and a raw seafood bar and dessert hour (all of which she had to pay extra for) I would have to agree it is overpriced but really nice nonetheless so if you have it, go for it.
Have you ever heard of Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood? Another friend got married there last year and the decor was very similar to Eagle Oaks and it was in the shore area except it was much more reasonable; maybe 160 on a Saturday night including everything.
