Rosewood- Edison vs Grand Marquis-Old Bridge

Good Afternoon Ladies and possible Gents,

I am about to book my wedding for next year and we are on a very strict budget. I need to know if anyone has been to Rosewood and/or Grand Marquis and if so can you please give me your recommendation. What did you like or dislike about the place(s)? If you booked with them, were they flexible with working withing your budget?
I'm so confused on what to do and need some help.
I would love to get married in the Grand Marquis but Rosewood seems to be offering a little more for a lot less, excluding food.. Grand Marquis is offering more food but everything else is more $$ (ice sculpture, chaircovers, lighting, ceremony). HELP?!??!

  • The Rosewood was one of the many places we visited.  I went based on recomendation and we were impressed.  We also checked out the Reception Center in Matawan, which is also nice.  Each had its pros and cons and to me those two were evenly matched.  We eventually went with a place that was closer to the ceremony location.

  • I have been to the Rosewood for a wedding.  It was very pretty inside but there were a few things I didn't like.  The food was so salty it was bad and the room had a awkward set up.

  • The Grand Marquis has great food, and I have really only heard good things about it. The major drawback is that there is absolutely nowhere to take pictures outside.

  • I have heard terrible things about the grand marquis- service wise. Plus the food is served Family Style- if that bothers you.

We visited the Rosewood and considered it but they were still renovating it and we weren't sure if it would be ready intime.  I find their food to be delicious.  They are owned by the same people that own the Chrystal Point Yacht Club and The English Manor which both have fabulous reputations.  A friend just got married at the English Manor and were thrilled.  The food was delicious.
  • The food was served family style in the grand marquis? What do you mean by that because the menu she presented to us was a complete sit down dinner? Do my guests have to share sides or something. I'm confused how that would work if they are each choosing the meal they want at the table. please explain because now you have me worried...lol

  • Usually a bride and groom decide to do family style to save money, it's not that the venue only serves family style. I am fairly certain that they have a sit down style dinner there if that is what you would like!

Yes it was the sides that were served family style.  It might have been the choice of the bride and groom I'm not sure, If you like that venue ask about it.
  • I've been to both for weddings. I prefer the Grand Marquis for food, etc. I prefer it's interior too. The Rosewood felt small to me and I didn't enjoy the set up really. I also agree with the PP who looked at the Reception Center in Matawan. It might be cheaper than both for you and is very nice.

  • I'm getting married @ The Grand marquis this January. I don't know what your budget is but they were very very accomidating for us. We didn't break down the price for everything individually but my price was un beatable and we have a lot that is included (including an ice sculpture and signiture drinks so push for that) The one thing I will say that I am  slightly uncomfortable about is that we were not offered a tasting, at our 1st meeting they said they do that after we book but we can get out if we dont like it and when we booked they said we do that when we pick our menu, it seems kinda odd, we havent done ANY planning with them at all and our wedding is in 5 months. I am going completly off of blind faith bc they came so highly recommended by family co-workers and friends (some in the business as well) and my FI has been to a TON of occasions here. So if you do book here, stay on top of them and be pushy, I am not and feel like Im being slighted out of the planning process - even though I do feel like everything will be wonderful. GL
