11/12/2011 Wedding Reviews

I didn't post here much, but the other brides' reviews were an important part of the planning process for me. I've used some different vendors so I thought I would return the favor.

Chapel of the Flowers (Ceremony):  A+++
Our wedding coordinator was Archel. She was responsive and helpful and available throughout the whole process. We did the First Look ceremony and everyone did an excellent job making sure we were separate from each other. The ceremony was beautiful and although I was aware that there were other weddings going on I never felt like I was on an assembly line. The photographs were spectacular! We ended up buying everything because they did such a good job. They do a really great job there, the grounds are beautiful and I highly recommend them. Fellini’s Italian Restaurant  @ The Stratosphere (Reception): A-
We started planning late so a lot of the usual places were already booked. We decided to go with Fellini’s since it was convenient for our guests and affordable. I worked with the manager, Mimi, and she is really great to work with. They don’t do anything over email or in writing, which was unsettling, but she was always available by phone. It got to the point that she knew who I was just by my phone number. The rooms have these pretty murals that photographed really well in our reception photos. We selected the menu with appetizers, soup or salad, pasta course, and a selection of beef, chicken, veal or salmon. My guests have told me that the food was very good. I could barely eat! The only downside was that my centerpieces were supposed to be set up and there weren’t able to do it after all. They got ahold of my mom to let her know well before the ceremony that they weren’t going to be able to set it up. She was able to rush down there to handle it. Also, I was told that the children could order off another menu, but when we arrived no one seemed to know anything about that. Luckily, one of the waiters stepped in and offered pizza and spaghetti to the kids. Their wait staff was FANTASTIC and attentive the whole time. What could have been stressful was well managed by their waiters. I’m not sure who they order their wedding cakes from, but it was one of the best wedding cakes we’ve ever tasted! Stratosphere (Accommodations): B
We stayed in one of their Select (upgraded) rooms for the first few nights. The rooms are pretty standard rooms and are nicely decorated. We upgraded to the suite for the wedding night and the rest of our stay. The suite was very nice with a large Jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room. The room had a view of the people coming off the tower which was fun to watch. There is nothing flashy about the hotel or casino itself, but their staff is really great. They had some of the friendliest bellmen I have ever encountered. We were a pretty demanding party and they were courteous and quick every time we called.Fit For A Bride:  A++
Wonderful, as expected. I shipped my dress ahead of time and Debi emailed and called me the minute my dress arrived. They were also able to deliver it a day early which helped my stress level tremendously! LV Salon (manicures): C-
We went there to get a manicure on the day of the wedding. We were in and out in like 10 minutes (including drying time). I felt like we were rushed out because we didn’t want any of the other services they offered us. They weren’t busy and there wasn’t anyone waiting so there was no need to rush. My manicure was just okay. My sister had nail polish clumped on tip of her nail that the technician couldn’t seem to fix. I chose clear polish to be on the safe side after that. They charged us each $18 and while that isn’t terribly expensive, the manicure wasn’t worth the money.  Harmony Medina (Hair & Make-up): A++
Harmony is fantastic and I was excited to work with her. She is very responsive and booking with her is super easy. She nailed my make-up on the trial and there wasn’t anything I wanted her to change. She really listened to me and “got” what I was looking for even though I could barely articulate what I wanted. My MOH and BM’s slept through my hair and make-up on the day of. It turned out okay because Harmony is so calm and easy to talk to. I think I was better off with just her instead of my rowdy wedding party. When my husband saw me for the first time he said “Wow”, which is recommendation enough for me! I have received tons of compliments on my hair and make-up. Morels French Steak House & Bistro @ The Palazzo (Bachelorette Party Dinner): A
Yummy! We ordered a ton of food and everything was delicious. The wait staff was very helpful in selecting drinks and wine pairings. The ambience was quiet and we could really talk to each other and connect before the partying began. This is a great place for a special occasion dinner.

Revolution Lounge @ Mirage (Bachelorette Party): A+
My MOH booked bottle service here based on on-line reviews. My MOH said that everyone was accommodating and helpful throughout the process. The manager even came over to make sure everything was okay. It was the perfect location for us. The club wasn’t overly crowded and our seats were right next to the dance floor so we could hang out right there. Our hostess was so sweet and joined in on the party. She made shots for us using the stuff we had so no one had to go to the bar. The music was Pop/Top 40 and the DJ was great. Overall we had a fantastic time! I would recommend them to anyone looking for an after-party location.

Julie Ray (Photography): A++
Julie was referred to us by a family member to do a photo shoot for us. Julie took all the family photos during the extra time on the grounds at Chapel of the Flowers and also a photo shoot at Red Rock Canyon. Julie found some great locations to shoot at and the photos are beautiful. Her husband assisted on the shoot and they were both wonderful and friendly. There was a great mix of directing us and allowing us to be ourselves for more candid photos. She will do whatever needs to be done to get a great photo, even crawling on the ground in the desert!
