Cake Topper / Knife / Guest Book

I started to look for a cake topper, undecided if I really want one. The link below is one that I found that I thought was pretty funny. Is everyone else getting one? Also are you bringing a guest book and knife set to cut the cake?http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25377491

That topper is really funny and cute. We aren't going with a topper just because I personally like the look of cakes without them. We are doing a guest book, but its a non-traditional one. We are actually using a beautiful photograph book about las vegas by peter lik (its called Las Vegas and Beyond- thanks to the knotties about a year ago who rec'd it) and having guests sign and leave us wishes in the negative spaces. I have asked my reception site if they provide cake serving sets since I don't have one...if they dont have one either I guess I will be out picking a set up later this week.

I like the way my cake looks without a topper too, so I probably won't end up getting one. That is a really good idea about the guest book, its something for me to think about. Can you let me know what Grand Lux says about the knife for the cake cutting?

Hey!  What a neat idea for a guest book.  I'm going to look into that Vegas book.

We're getting a crystal Beauty and the Beast figurine for the cake topper.  It's pricey, but it's also something we'll display in the house, so I'm okay with it.  I'm probably going to borrow a knife set from my sister, or pick up one used for as cheap as I possibly can; it's a one-use item that I refuse to spend more than $5 for.  As far as a guest book, my inclination is to have some kind of poster that everyone can sign, so we can display it later on.  Maybe some kind of movie poster, maybe something Vegas themed, maybe an attraction poster from Disneyland or one of the big maps...  Maybe I'll paint something.  I don't know, I'll figure it out.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

We're going to have a custom-made South Park topper made.  I don't think I'll have them put it on the cake, but on the table beside it. We're not using a guest book, we have less than 50 guests and almost all are family.  I am thinking about a signature picture mat for people to sign, though. I'm probably going to pick up a cake serving set at Michael's or Walmart.

Jpaw- Rich at grand lux just called and said they do have cake service knife sets there, but you can also feel free to bring your own in. Hope that helps.

We aren't having a topper as there and strawberries on top of our cake. Instead of a guestbook we are getting a metal photo mat for our guests to inscribe and we will be buying a cake cutter set as our reception is insuite

I made our topper.   Shineybride888 inspired it.   It was abit taller than I wanted but ahh well, couldn't find a shorter ornament stand. Guest book was a photomat in a frame, no glass we keep that at home so not to break in transit. The knife set... traditional we didn't want, we used a knife from the restuarant.

No cake topper butterflies and a fondant bow.  That is blue. but the butterflies are all flying up the cake in a swarm.  The serving set we are getting from things remembered They are the double heart set we do a lot of entertaining where we need serving things so it works out well for us to use them.    I have a feeling my daughter is getting me build a bears in the bride and groom which I will set by the cake. We are doing  a photo frame for people to sign with our engagement photo for the wedding but when we hang it it will be with a wedding photo.

I bought a set of rubber duckies that are dressed as a bride and groom. We have a bathroom with rubber ducky decor, so I thought it was funny and appropriate. None of the traditional toppers felt right. We also got a small-ish guestbook from Hallmark (my mom insisted on getting it), and a very cheap cake cutter set from Jo-Anns. But I swear, whenever I feel like I'm done shopping for accessories, I always think of another little thing I want/need. It's both fun and frustrating...

I got our guestbook from www.guestbookstre.com. You choose an album, then pages to put in it (we only needed 20 pages so it worked out really cheap). they're basically info pages that the guests fill out about you, including predictions and how far they've travelled etc. they can even draw a pic of the bride and groom. I'm gonna put them at each setting to give the guests something to do during boring bits! Nothaving a cake topper - we only have a teeny weeny 1 tier cake so i 'm not sure if it'll look right? xxxx

I have a topper which was custom made.  It depicts FI, his two boys, and myself in our wedding attire.  It also has our two dogs.  If it doesn't work on the cake, they could put it next to it.I have a cake knife.  One of my FI's customers gave it to him as a wedding gift.I have a guest book.  It is a special photo book for the Polaroid PoGo printer.  Our guests can take pictures, stick them in the book, and write messages.I have the nicest flutes too, but I can't bear to take them in case they break.  They have hollow stems which are filled with diamond-shaped crystals.  They were also a gift.

Cake Topper: We're having King & Queen of hearts top our cake. You can see it on the Freed's Bakery website Cutting Set: We bought the Mr. & Mrs. flute and cake server sets from Things RememberedGuestbook: Not doing one. I know we'd never do anything with it haha
