Finally!! He was born 8/29/10 at 2:56pm on our second trip to L&D. Long story short, I finally got admitted due to dilating to 4cm after walking for an hour (not even, it was so painful!). Got a few doses of pain medication IV until my doc arrived in the AM, checked me and I was 5cm and he broke my water to get things moving. Little while later I'm 6cm and since they were ready to start pitocin (after two checks and no change) I went ahead and got the epidural (so proud I made it THAT long lol). After pitocin was cranked up to 3, all of the sudden an hour later I was 9 1/2 cm and ready to push!! Pushed for an hour and baby's heart rate kept dropping but recovered slowly with each rest. Turns out he had the cord wrapped around his neck twice! Dylan was sunny side up so he had to be manually turned face down (thank god that worked!! I did not want the vacuum or forceps) and I delivered a very healthy baby boy! I had such a great birthing experience with our OB and the staff at Rex. We were all actually LAUGHING right before the last push (you know, the one where they tell you to stop pushing for a contraction or two to help stretch you out slowly) and telling jokes. Dylan is doing well. Was a little jaundiced but came down on his own a few days ago. Lost more than 10% of his birth weight due to my milk coming in a little later than normal but he's eating like a champ now and gaining the weight back after only one night of supplemental formula (through a tube, no bottle). Still adjusting to our new life and crazy schedule but so in love with our little boy. He is such a good baby!
