So Random

So today i found a 1960's sixpence on my desk at work. For those of you who don't know a sixpence is a coin that was legal tender in England prior to 1971. I live in Canada but am from England so it isn't that unusual to find British money mixed in with my change, after a trip home. However as i mentioned the sixpence is no longer used and is the last line in the old rhyme "Something old, something new / Something borrowed, something blue / And a sixpence for her (left) shoe." It even has a hole in it so i can make it into jewellery after the wedding. I asked everyone and work and nobody put it on my desk intentionally, so i guess the universe wants me to have it and be lucky in my marriage.

I thought i'd share my randomness for the day.

Love it! I make it a point to give all my American friends a lucky six pence when they get married.

I've had the same lucky wheat penny in my wallet for as long as I can remember.  My step-dad brought it back from Germany.  When he was in the National Guard, they would do "checks" for wheat pennies in the bar.  Whoever didn't have one had to buy a round of drinks.  When he left his training in Germany, he brought his home to me.  I've had it ever since.  I keep it with my other change and $2 bills my grandfather gave be with my paper cash for financial luck :)  I've even been a penny short for things and still broke a larger bill so I keep my penny!  It's also fun to come across it in my wallet during change searches because it makes me think of him.

Anytime I now come across another wheat penny, I give it to a friend to bring THEM financial luck.
