Wedding Favor Ideas and Advice

Hello!

Please share your favorite wedding favors from other weddings or from your own
It is very easy to get carried away with all of the favor options out there.

I really would like to do something nice since the majority of my guests are coming to Vegas from out of town. But I also want it to be something they will be able to use.

Do you think favors are a "splurge" item or should I spend less on favors and more on items like centerpieces or wedding party gifts.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! I just got started planning so I'm not sure I know a whole lot, but maybe it will give you an idea. My dad makes his own granola that is really tasty, so I asked him if he could make it for favors. I got these cute kraft boxes from papermart.com (I think) a while ago, and I was just planning on tying them up with some pretty string and labels. I was even thinking of incorporating them as centerpieces (with flowers too, of course)

I definitely would not splurge on favors....for the most part their kinda a waste of money because a lot of guests will just leave them behind, especially if their non edible. I would do welcome bags. A few knotties shave been able to get their bags for free by calling the LVCVA and just asking.

We weren't going to do favors, then I found one that doubles as decor for the place settings and has to do with "us" as a couple.  He's Puerto Rican and his whole fam speaks Spanish.  So we're thinking of alternating these for part of the plate settings:






They run about $1 each, and we'll have about 70 guests max.  Not a splurge at all.

There are a lot of beautiful favors but I didn't know what to choose so that it would suit everyone, guys and girls, without at least of half of them going to waste. We are thinking about picking a charity and then making something for the place setting letting each guest know that money was given on their behalf to whichever charity. It probably won't be a huge sum of money but I think any ammount helps.

My guests went crazy over the personalized M&Ms.  You can ordered them already done up in little boxes right from the M&M website.  Look for promo coupons online to get free shipping.  I had them shipped right to Maggianos and they took care of putting them on the tables.  Super Easy!  Also had cute name tags from etsy. All the guests kept them along with the M&Ms.

Personally I never take the favours unless they are edible or something my niece might want to play with! 

That said since it is a Vegas wedding and we plan on going out afterwards with our guests to party on I really wouldn't want them lugging around something extra especially food! Most female guests will only have a clutch or evening bag and most of the men will only have pockets!

Personally I cared very little about decor etc and generally am not a big fan of favors, but my partner wanted them so we decided last minute to buy each guest $20 worth of casino chips for MB (we had a very small guest count) and the chips were laid out at everyone's place setting at the reception. After the reception we took everyone to Mix at MB and they got to gamble the chips before heading up to the club. I think people really enjoyed this - plus my aunt who never gambles won $800 at the slots and my best friend $1300 at roulette!

We did coloured fortune cookies with personalised messages - it fitted in with our Asian decor and cuisine at Little Buddha.

*Wildstyle* I love the casino chip idea. We are thinking about buying a $50 one and some smaller chips to place under the chairs in the Vista Suite and whoever is sitting in those chairs wins the chip to gamble with at Mandalay Bay. We are having about 60 guests and so can't afford to buy everyone a casino chip unless its only a few dollars each.

we did chocolates from a Milwaukee (H' hometown) based candy company.  my MIL carried the chocolate on the plane with her, i brought the bags and stickers, and we assembled them in my hotel room after our Welcome Party dinner.  very easy.  and we didn't have any leftovers...always a bonus!

We did edible favors. They were a hit and a great late night snack. Here is a pic of the bags I put them in.

We are doing $1 scratch off lottery tickets.  I found "glassine" envelopes from Oriental Trading that fit a lottery ticket perfectly.  We are going to try to find pennies minted in 2011, and enclose one in each envelope.  I also ordered stickers that say "lucky in love, Adam & Julie to seal the envelopes.  Cheap, not too complicated to assemble, and portable as heck

We used those for our table numbers; I wish I had remembered to take a few of them at the end of the night but I didn't.  Hopefully some guests took them lol.
