Registry gifts

Hey!!

Soooo we just got our first gift via being shipped to our house. Its in a target box so Im assuming its from our registry since neither FI or I have ordered anything from them. I know my shower is coming up because my MOH is being EXTREMELY sneaking (I'll place bets that its this weekend since my mom will be in town).  .

Anyways, is it treated as a shower gift or wedding gift?? Its sitting by the christmas tree right now.

It depends if they were invited to the shower and are not attending.  Once you have your shower check w/the MOH on who was invited if that person was invited but sent the gift to your house I'd treat it as a shower gift.

There might be a gift tag or something inside with their name on it, maybe.  Then you would know who it's from.  Or check with your MOH to see who was invited that didn't come.

Why don't you open it now? We just got one of our first wedding gifts mailed to us a couple weeks ago. Whatever it is, there's probably another box inside and a card or info about who it's from... that's how ours was.

We got a gift straight from Target and it says inside the box who its from. I so would have opened it by now too!

it'll say who it's from on the shipping label / package recep.

Are you thinking of waiting a LONG time to open it? As a gift giver, I'd probably get worried if you didn't open it relatively soon, and reply with a Thank You. I'd wonder if it got lost... Use THAT to make your FI let you open it! :)

I would go ahead and open it.  I think if they wanted you to wait, they wouldn't have sent it.  Plus you can get your thank you card out of the way, because believe me you will probably have a ton to write!

The general rule I've always heard is "open it now, just down use it until after the shower or wedding or whatever it was intended for".  That way, you can let the sender know you received it with a nice thank you card, and youre not stuck with a billion thank you cards to write at once after the wedding.  Course, then you have to sit and look at all these awesome presents without using them, so no idea if that's actually practical;)

I'll wait until the weekend since I think thats when the shower will take place. If it turns out to be later on. . I'll give your awesome advice to the FI. I totally agree. . I'd rather do the Thank You's now :) . . . thinking of that, I need to go find some cute Thank you cards.
