question about hair/makeup

I am getting a bit confused as I research the hair/makeup artists. Most of them state that they are only allowed to go in suite if it is part of the photography. Does this mean I need to book them through my photographer? I understand that they have minimums (of people) and that is not an issue, just confused how it is classified as "with photography"?

Any insight? 

PS- I emailed Francesca over a week ago and nothing back... anyone have any sort of pricing so I can determine if she is near my budget or start looking elsewhere...

I have no idea what the bolded part means, I've never heard of this before.  You can let anyone into your room or suite that you want.  Who have you heard this from? 

I would try e-mailing Francesca again, there have been situations where she didn't receive e-mails that I sent.  I can't really comment on her pricing as I know she raised them after I booked her, but she does give discounts if you have hair / makeup done for your BP as well.

I just booked with Francesca -- it took me over a week to get her to send me the contract, so be patient (she will respond--email her again if it's been a few days).

She quoted me $195 for my hair and make-up and $130 for my MOH - she requires a contract and $100 deposit (remainder due can be paid day of wedding).  She provides you with false lashes and lipstick.  She also offers a trial make-up consult for $100, and offers to lower your wedding day price if you do a trial.

She doesn't have any minimums that I am aware of, nor did she mention the photographer.  I don't have BMs so I don't know if it's a flat $130 for each additional person or if she offers a lower rate w/ larger numbers.  HTH!!

So helpful from both of you! No I saw this on both Stevie Daniels and Makeup 702. I didn't quite understand the concept, but it was something along the lines of they cannot practice outside of the salon unless they are booked for photography. Maybe this only applies for those with salons?

I am holding out for Francsca. She has the best portfolio and the best reviews. I will give her a few more days then email again.

You definitely won't go wrong with Francesca, she really is fantastic to work with.  She's done hair & makeup for me three times now.

I agree I would totally wait for Francesca!!! It's been a while since I've heard from her...asked her a question a few weeks back...but she will get a hold of you.

She doesn't have an assistant or anything to handle her e-mails, so on top of it being wedding season and her being a mother of two she definitely has a lot on her plate.

Agree with everything Direy said. Francesca is simply the best! She is so amazing with what she does! I know it takes some time for her to reply these days, she's extremely busy and a mother of 2 on top of that. She's told me before she feels bad when she isn't able to reply right away. But she will reply, so just wait a little longer!

Ditto to all PP. Wait it out with Francesca. She does take upwards or a week or more to respond. I booked her based on others reviews. I can't for her to work her magic!

I recently had my hair/makeup done with glamsquad for my sisters wedding. I had airbrush makeup. I liked it in the pro pics, but all the pics my dad took, it looks like i have powder everywhere on my face. I felt that they were in a rush, but overall i was happy with the look and experience.

I didn't deal with Francesca, however why not try giving her a call?? My hair/ m-up artist didn't respond to me for a little while and turned out she had never received my email and was very apologetic. Sometimes email isn't the best way to go!

Francesca is wonderful. Like PP said...sometimes it will take her a couple days to get back to you but she deals with her clients personally, no assistant. I would def. wait out for her....shes worth every penny!

Another perosn here saying Francesca is great! She is probably the most exciting thing about the wedding for me because I am a no make up and suck at that girly stuff person!
