Mens Warehouse

What a mess.  Myself, fiancé and brother went to pick out the male wedding attire and it was just awful.  We had no problem being “helped”, but they are so beyond pushy that I walked out more than 2x’s.   First, they will push you into adding more people to your wedding party because more people = more suits = more money.  Annoying.

Second, they only really showed us two suits.  The Vera Wang and the Calvin Klein. I suppose I could have asked to see more or a catalog of some sort, but fiancé was already sold on the Calvin Klein.

Third, I told them they would come back to get measured.  The salesperson was okay with this, but then some woman out of nowhere with a measuring tape started measuring. We went after work. We were all starving. Seriously?  Then the person with the tape measure walks away and our original consultant starts measuring.  She obviously jumped in because there was no way we were going to leave without putting down a couple deposits.  Annoying.

Fourth, they kept on insisting we go with ivory over the white because my dress is ivory.  I declined. I now have no idea if I made the right choice.  My reasoning was that the white shirts will never directly touch my dress, so I don’t think there will be an issue.  The ivory looked pretty creamy.  I am still up in the air about this.  I never knew having a black and white wedding with an ivory dress would push me over the edge the way that it has.  Annoyed with myself.

Fifth, the totals per suit changed when we finally got to the registers 2 hours later.  Yes, 2 hours later.  The price jumped $40 because we would be picking up in Vegas and taxes and all of this BS.  Not pleased.  Threatened to truly walk out and come back another day when suddenly the price dropped to $169 just $10 more than originally quoted.  Not particularly happy, but fiancé was happy and we decided that it was an okay price for Calvin Klein.  I still think its too much.  Ehhhh… Annoyed.

So ya, suit shopping is time consuming and extremely frustrating.  I had a bad feeling from the beginning because of a past experience I had with them.  Let's just hope they dont screw things up.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. My guys had their fitting last month and it went very smooth. My guys went with the Vera Wang which came out to $212.95 per tux. I personally thought that was high for tux rental and looking over the reciept they did not charge the extra $40 for Vegas pick up

Good to hear things went smooth. I have had a bad experience at this particular location, so maybes its just the location?  Anyhow, lets hope things go smooth from here on out.

  • sorry u had bad experience :(
  • We walked into a MW looking for a vest after purchasing my FI's suit and their customer service left something to be desired. I'm assuming because we weren't making a large purchase from them.  Good for you not just letting them charge you whatever they felt like and push you around. It's your day, your suits and should definitely be exactly what you want.

p.s. If this isn't your frist bad experience with them I would write into their customer service dept. I'm a big fan of strongly worded letters!

I think I am going to.  This was my second.  I am thinking it just may be my personality not fitting their sales approach, but still.  I left a pretty snarky yelp review.

  • Bad customer service drives me crazy, especially when you are dropping a good chunk of change. You shouldn't have to fit your personality to their sales scheme, because you can get a suit anywhere and they need to remember that. I'm so mad for you! lol

  • I was surprised by tux rental charges as well. My first experience was my son getting a tux for his jr prom this year.. and it was s180.00 I was like, that wasnt the 80.00 they say on the internet.. of course that was a really ugly tux...

So now at least I have an idea of what it will be like when the men go... I dont have an idea of when we should pick out the tux and the colors..

    any suggestions??

Thanks for telling me how much your son's tux was.  I am glad to see I wasnt the only person surprised with tux prices, and I am not very frugal!

I would go earlier than I went (2 months out).  Maybe 4 months to pick out the style and such.  It was by no means as easy as I thought it would be.  There are quite a few options and the fitting was quite lengthy too. I guess I am a woman and not a man, so I wouldnt necessarily know all of this!

  • I'm so sorry you had to deal with that! Ours was smooth and we didn't get charged for having them picked up in Vegas either. Glad they knocked the price down for you!
