I need somewhere very different and cool to host a reception. We are getting married in Hawaii and will have a party when we get back. However I do not want to copy the reception of a friend we just went to where they rented out a ruitan club and served bbq. I don't want to do the same thing only FI is leaning that way. I want to be different. I wanted to rent out Aquarium but he has a problem with that since most of his family won't travel. We are in Rocky Mount and I'm just out of ideas. HELP! Thanks in advance. i love these boards.

    Thanks for the idea. Does anyone know where I can rent a barn like space? I have searched on here but nothing in the area pops up. I know I can google it and have but a million sketchy looking places show up.

    I know a couple girls have used barns in the piedmont and near Charlotte.  How far from RM are you willing to go?

    And where in Hawaii are you getting married?

    First off, I am so jealous that you are getting married in hawaii! HD and I so badly wanted to do that, but it didn't work out.

    I think the museum idea is good.  Depending on when you get married, you could maybe do an event like a baseball game or something like that.  I guess what it comes down to is what is considered too far to travel?

    We are getting married in Kauai in August. Having a reception at home for family. FI family doesn't really travel and 1 hour is probably tops. I wouldn't want to go farther than that.
