Outside catering at Mandalay Bay

I am looking to get married this upcoming November. I went to reserve the Vista Suite this morning for my reception. I happened to mention reception and the convo went down hill. I will just call back later... But...

From all the posts i have read, no one has had issues with outside catering at MB?? She even called the front desk and they confirmed no outside catering.

Obviously i shouldn't have said "reception" but it worries me.  Brides whom have done it before did you have any issues?

No one has any issues. They use Masterpiece.

It's sort of a "don't ask, don't tell" policy with outside caterers.  MB is well aware that most of their Vista suite bookings are for weddings and other large parties, they're not going to jeopardize that business.  We actually had bell services insist on bringing up the food for our lunch rather than letting us carry it up (I think they were concerned about having to clean up if we dropped or spilled something).
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I have this same concern, I would hate to plan on bringing our own food then have the hotel tell us no when we got there. I had e-mailed the Mandaly Bay last night about the room and  he sent along their policies and it says no outside food or beverages but it sounds like so many other people have had no issues with it. I guess it's a chance I'll have to take cause I do not want to pay their outrages catering fees. I'm sure it will be fine just still makes me a bit nervous.

When we went to scout (gamble, LOL) in December we went to the registration desk to see if we could tour the vista suite. Unfortunately all of them were booked at the time, but the lady who took care of us was awesome. We told her we were getting married there and had reserved the Vista for 5 days. She came out and asked us if we were having a reception in the Vista and I came out and told her. She then starts going into how her daughter got married at MB last week and had the reception in suite. She the started explaining how they had it all set up and everything! I kid you not.

So I think with MB it is such a don't ask, don't tell kind of thing. I would not worry about it.

Hi, just wondering how your wedding/reception went? Congratulations by the way! :) We are getting married this June in Vegas and just booked the suite yesterday to have a "reception". Some blogs I've read said that Mandalay and MGM allowed outside catering but they were written in 2010...lol So, just wondering if you decided to or not? Thanks!

Hi, I am hoping that some of you could update us as to whether you were successful in brining in outside food an beverages. Also, is the elevator bank that goes up to the vista suite monitored by hotel staff? Did you need a special key cardto access the floor? Did your guests have to give their name or check in with anyone or is it just like a regular hotel where anyone can go in the elevators. Thank you all so much for your time - your feedback is invaluable! I would be absolutely mortified if we got "busted" for outside food/beverage for our wedding!!!
  • I'm curious if this worked out for you? If your still even on these posts anymore..I have the same concerns
  • Probably better to start a new thread.  Other than me, not a lot of 2+ year people still monitor the threads so the original posters typically will no longer get back to you this far removed from the wedding date.
