Dropping off OOT bags

In my love of spoiling people and wanting to make them feel special, I have decided I want to do OOT bags. Just some silly things in there: prestamped postcards for them to send to people, bottled water (I hate the way Vegas tap water tastes), mini bottles of booze, funny sunglasses etc. etc.

While it would be easy just to distribute them like party bags at our welcome cocktail party the night before the wedding, I think it would be classier and a  much better surprise to have them waiting at the hotel for them. I am arriving days before most of our guests so this is doable.

Has anyone successfully done this? Were there any charges, and was the item held at the business center or shipping center or mailroom, or put directly in the person's room?

I am having this dilemma as well and we decided to just give them out at the dinner the night before. We're getting married at MB and most of our guests are staying there but when I asked my WC she said the front desk usually forgets to give them out (I wasn't pleased about that either, I offered to pay extra) and since we're not there too much before everyone, we just thought it was easier.

I've always wondered how this works when everyone is staying at different hotels.  We're having our ceremony and reception at Paris, but don't expect people to stay there due to the priciness.  People have been very slow to share where they're staying or even when they're coming in, so we finally gave up on OOT bags completely and decided to go with gift boxes at the actual reception dinner.

I decided to do it at the Meet & Greet because like people have said the desk forgets or they will charge you to get it in the guests rooms...

Call me paranoid, but I'd rather hand mine out face to face because what if the hotel does forget or heaven forbid they get lost or something? Not to mention, there might be a fee. Maybe people could call you when you get in and you could have them come to you or meet you somewhere for a drink or a bite to eat and give them out then prior to the official meet and greet? Or, since people like free stuff they'd probably be happy to get it at the welcome cocktail thing.

You would have to know where everyone is staying, and what day(s) they are arriving.  You would probably spend a good bit of time shuttling them around.  I'd give them out at your welcome party.
