Hi--Been away for a few days and just saw your post.  We are getting married at the Platinum on 3/19/11.  Funny thing is, we have not actually been there yet!  We are relying alot at this point on photos and reccommendations from people that we trust.  So far our experience has been very good with the Coordinator(s) who have been working with us.  I say that in the plural because the one we were originally working with moved when her husbands job relocated him.  But the fact that she personally sent me an email explaining that impressed me.  We are scheduled for a tasting and a tour of the suites in December.  I plan to take a lot of photos and would be happy to share them and my experience with you and everyone here.  I can tell you about the contract process and things like that now if you have specific questions in that area.

    Good Luck!!

Have you already looked at this  http://www.theplatinumhotel.com/weddings/documents/Platinum_Hotel_Wedding.pdf ?  What I can tell you about ours so far is we are doing the special deal they have called the all inclusive wedding package which you can read about here  http://www.theplatinumhotel.com/weddings/wedding-promotions.cfm#All This worked for us as we wanted the wedding and reception in the same place.  Right now we are schduled for the Misora Room on the top floor and the adjoining terrace.  We have to have under 80 guests for the sit down dinner and we are hovering dangerously close.  If we go over that we have to move to the Kilowat resturant and the pool area, which from the pictures seems really pretty, but we want to stay at the Misora. One this from the big Wedding pdf that confused me a bit was if you choose the all inclusive package, which gives you are flat rate of $105/person and then look at the menu options, your meal choice(s) must be under $70. I was kind of upset by that initially as it wasn't specified and I had asked specifically before we signed the contract if we were able to choose any meal from the plated menu.  That is really the only hiccup I have had with them.  The vendors we have chosen for our other services (DJ, Florist, Photographer) have all said it is really a great place and they like working with this venue so my fingers are crossed.  If you think of any other questions I might be able to answer now please let me know :)

I just got back from a scouting mission in Las Vegas! We checked out the Platinum hotel as a possible reception venue.  We had a great experience meeting with the staff.  We went there without an appointment and the front desk staff had no trouble with asking a security guard (also very very nice) to escort us to see the two areas (misora and pool deck/Kilowat).  After checking them out, we had a couple of quick questions.  The security guard called and asked Marie (one of the wedding coordinators) to meet with us.  She was excellent as well.  To finish up the visit, we wanted to see the hotel suites to see if this would be an appropriate place to ask our guests to stay.  Again, the front desk staff were great! We provided them with ID and she gave us two keys to see two different suites.  This is our impression of various things:

Misora - A nice space, but a strange curved shape to it.  If you had 80 guests, the room would be quite full and might be more difficult to reach the bar at the one end.  Also, we weren't sure where you would place the head table so that everyone would be able to see us and see speaches.  As for the open terrace, the space has a gorgeous view at night (proximity to the strip) and ugly during the day (rubby parking lots surrounding).  Our problem with that space is although you can walk through the middle area to get to each side, the space is choppy due to the curved shape of the building (it has a triangular shaped (small) open space at either side, and a walkway between them).

Pool Deck/Kilowat - The restarurant is really pretty, but would need some rearranging to make it a reception venue (with the tables moved around, and some decorations it would be pretty cool).  The pool deck area has lots of open space (once some of the pool furniture was moved) and the pool would be pretty at night.  I was wondering if the pool would be a concern for any kids coming to our reception or just drunk people in general, but with the amount of space around it, it would be fine.  The view is exactly the same as the Misora, just on a lower floor.
We are actually trying to choose this as our reception venue because it would be a very unique experience for our guests.  Although the prices are not over the top, it is still a great deal more than our second choice (the Plaza at Whitney Ranch).

Hotel as a possible place for our guests - The suites were very nice.  All very spacios (even the smallest one)l.  The bathrooms are nice, and the linens nice enough.  These rooms have a very homey feel to them and are not flashy Vegas, ie no leather couches and crazy art on the wall,  The proximity to the strip is great.  As mentioned the staff was nice and the valet was quick and friendly.  The pool area, although great for a wedding reception, was nothing special in terms of a great resort,  which we love in a hotel.  We couldn't see them playing much for music and I don't think they appeal to young people.  For that reasoon alone, we won't be staying at the Platinum.  We still want to book it for our reception though! :)

I hope this has helped some of you.
