DJ vs ipod for an in-suite reception...

I am still thinking of a few details for the in suite reception. We decided on MB vista suite for about 35 ppl.
What does everyone think about an ipod as a dj? cheesy? i thought about making/ setting up different playlists and  having someone manage them. Any cheap DJ's? i also don't want to pay $$$ for a DJ and then have the party shut down. ideas? experiences?

  • I'm doing an iPod and my fiancé and I are having a great time picking out music together. Oh, and my dad has a Bose iPod dock, so we are taking that with us.

  • We're doing ipod too. But we're only having about 15 people, so a dj would probably be silly for that!

  • Dj Godzilla is a great price....I only know the pricing I booked him which was $300 for 4 hours. Godzillasounds@yahoo.com I think it just depends in your crowd and if you wanna worry about it or not. Will it stress you out? Is it worth the $$ to get a Dj for you?
  • I *almost* hired DJ Godzilla but then I read from other Vista brides that the party had to stop due to noise complaint and the security shutting the party down... completely! I even asked DJ Godzilla and he said it was true. I really wanted a DJ but I don't want to run the chances of getting booted out of the room so I decided to just do an iPod.

  • thank you ladies so much for the input. i am thinking of the ipod too. it's all close friends and family so we will have fun regardless. it's true if you get a noise complaint security will go and tell you to turn the music off or keep it down. sometimes they might even ask your guests to leave that's if the issue continues and they go to your room mulitple times. i think i will play it safe and keep the ipod.
