Cashman Photos

I've seen alot of bad of unfavorable reviews about Cashman photography.  Are they really horrible?.  I'm asking since it might be a deal breaker for booking my wedding at Mandalay Bay...any comments or advice is appreciated.

Re: Cashman Photos

  • I wouldn't say they are horrible, just expensive. The included pictures on the packages are really all we plan on buying as we hired another photographer for the remainder of the day. There have been a lot of past brides on here that have said Cashman charges a ton for additional prints outside of the package.

  • I really don't think Cashman photos are very good at all...

I think people who are just looking for some pictures to capture the day will be pleased, but people who are really into photography or are used to being photographed by good photogs will be a little disappointed.
  • There have been a few people on here who have had a great experience with Cashman from a photography quality standpoint.  There have been a large number of people who have had a mediocre to average experience with them from a quality standpoint.  I have yet to see anyone ever say their Cashman photos were bad, so at least there's that.

However, their pricing is downright ridiculous.  The packages typically include only prints, and a small number of them at that.  They will then charge very high rates for additional prints, and a CD/DVD of your photos is plain painful, averaging $800 to $1200 per hour of photography shot.

Most people use them just for the wedding because they're forced to, then hire a third party to do photography before and after.  One of the more assinine resorts with regard to a Cashman contract is the Venetian.  While most resorts just have a contract that says you can only use Cashman in their chapel, the Venetian has an official hotel policy that you cannot have a third party commercial photographer on any Venetian owned property, including private ballrooms.  We were thinking about having a reception in a private room there because we liked the Veentian grounds but our quote from Cashman for eight hours photography coverage with two photographers and full digital rights to all the photos on a DVD was about $9000.  Yes, $9000.  We went with Mike L instead, and didn't use the Venetian, and spent less than $2k for what ended up being about 12 hours of coverage on wedding day plus an hour the night before for our rehearsal dinner.

  • I depends on the individual photographers. Even if they're all Cashman-based there are different photographers at each resort, so I think you should ask MB for their portfolio. You can better make a decision if you can compare their work to that of others. That's what we did that helped us decide. As far as prices, the blanket statement applies, they're out of control everywhere.
  • Thanks everyone!  Yeah, I was planning on just getting the package photos too.  Good idea about to asking to see a portfolio.  I was assuming they would just assign who ever is available, but it doesn't hurt to ask anyway.

  • I went with MB--regardless of Cashman. I loved the Chapel and a few other aspects. So, rather than to scrap the entire venue over Cashman...I simply hired a 3rd party photographer to have additional/nicer photos. (all the getting ready, first look, fun Vegas stuff, cocktail reception, etc) With the exception of Wiwi's photos, which I thought were beautiful, every other CM photo Ive ever seen was "just okay," and too many times--not even centered! Nothing to write home about.

When I had my WC appointment to book MB, they had sample photo albums on the table. I was browsing thru one, (very modern, acrylic type cover) and I thought, "Oh, this is nice." That is, until I saw the price on the back! $1,400!!! Okay Cashman...Bacckkkk awaaay from the crack pipe!!!

For me personally, the pretty pictures outside of the chapel are the photos that are going to matter most to me. Im not going to hang/display the photo of me placing the ring on FI's finger. As far as Im concerned, the Cashman ceremony photos will do, for wedding "highlights." (Dad walking me down the aisle, placing ring on finger, first kiss) How many pictures are they going to get during a 10 minute ceremony anyway?? So, I will stick to the "highlight" photos when choosing photos for my package inclusion. Afterall, I do want some ceremony shots, and these will be my only ceremony pictures. Otherwise, I look forward to all my OTHER photos from the day!...Not to mention I will own (cd/dvd) the rights to 6 hours worth of photos, INCLUDED in the all day shoot!

    Good Luck with your decision.

  • Ditto PPs.  We've hired Mike L for the majority of our day, and we plan on only taking our package photos from Cashman.

For us, the ceremony shots are more important to our parents.  The artsy/modern photos are ones we'll want to hang or have around the house.  We picked the MB ceremony with the videographer.  I hope that's enough to be able to relive our day, especially if the pics don't turn out.

PS - I'm tired of Cashman trying to post fake reviews.  It's getting old.
  • Cashman is very, very average and very, very expensive when compared to their skill level overall.  Their album and print prices are obscenely high, even compared to the most high-end photographers I researched.  I had a friend get married at MB recently, and her photos are probably the worst I've ever seen in all the time I had spent researching for my wedding.  I felt so bad for her, but she wanted to go "cheap" and just bought their basic package, and the truth of it is, cheap often costs you more, you know?  And it's not like you can get a do-over on your wedding.

Best of luck with everything, and do a little research and find a good local that can take good care of you before/after the ceremony.  You won't regret it.

  • I thought that Cashman was pretty good when it came to photography. They offered alot of packages to go along with the pictures which was good when it came down to all of the variety of poses that came along with it. Some of the pics though I would wonder who would get them (like a poster size pic of themselves) but to each choice their own.
  • We just had our wedding at Planet Hollywood LV on February 18th and Cashman was responsible for the photos included in the package. I have to say I was wary at first and not having a lot of control over the choice of vendors almost nixed my plans for a Las Vegas wedding. I can't say how happy I am that I chose to take a chance on Cashman for so many reasons.

I am a really camera shy person. I get uptight and have a hard time taking pictures but the photographer (Matt. B.) really helped me be relaxed and natural and encouraged me to have fun. He was friendly, did his best to figure out what our style was, had great ideas, and used his creativity and winning personality to give us wonderful photos. He seemed really invested in giving us all that we wanted in such a short period of time and cued us to take pictures that we were too anxious and excited to even think about. For example, he encouraged us to mingle with our guests outside the chapel instead of rushing right into our hour of onsite photography. The candid shots he did of us are really the most touching pictures, he really captured the emotions of the day.

As far as price goes, I am satisfied. The turnover on these pictures is really fast. We were able to see all of the pictures (some with effects and re-touching) and larger prints the next morning. From my pre-wedding research, the prices seem in line with other vendors while also factoring in that you are paying for some very convenient and fast service.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your wedding!

  • I got married on March 7th, 2012 at the Swan Court at Mandalay Bay, which uses Cashman Photography. I cannot begin to explain how amazing my photos turned out from my wedding thanks to Cashman.

My photographer was a genius and Natalie Olson from Cashman was beyond helpful from day one. When I spoke to her and told her exactly what I wanted, she made sure that a complete photography package was custom made to my specifications. For what I purchased, I think it was worth the price. Not to mention, my photographer took about 100 extra photos (what can I say? Apparently we were photogenic!) and we got every one of them for no extra cost. And in the fact that you get all of your photography back the day after the wedding. So no waiting period like most places and ALL of my two-hundred plus photos were edited.

Again, I can’t begin to say how happy I am with Cashman, along with The Wedding Chapel at the MB and all of the individuals who are responsible for making my day amazing. Whatever your concerns are, you should call Cashman and find out straight from them what you can do with your specific budget or explain to them what you are looking for. They will do everything in their power to make sure you are 100% happy with your purchase and in choosing them.

If you make sure you stay within your budget, you WILL not regret choosing the Mandalay Bay or Cashman Photography.
