In-Suite Reception

We're getting married at either Mandalay Bay or the MGM in 2011. I'm interested in having an in suite reception for about 30-50 people instead of a formal reception with dinner. I would definently reserve a large suite with a kitchen. Has anyone had any experience doing this in Vegas? Is it against hotel policy? I would love to serve liquor and appetizers at a more resonable rate because I know that our friends and family would have more fun on the strip than stuck at a fancy wedding receptionLaughing

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! We're heading up to Vegas in March to lock down our place, so any and all suggestions are helpful too!

Thanks!

There are a few of us doing this exact thing. We are getting married at MB Valley for the Falls with an insuite app. reception in the Vista Suite, catered by Masterpiece Cuisine. Yes, MB allows outside catering in their suites, no problem. We are also brining in our own alcohol. Check out my bio, and others on the Vegas Knottie List.

    Hope this helps...good luck!

I talked with Masterpiece cuisine about this - they said that they can pretty much do any hotel in Vegas (food and liquor).  Their prices are VERY reasonable.... No, it is not against hotel policy to do this BUT they will try to talk you out of it as they want you to use their catering.  So I am just not going to mention it when booking.

For some hotels it is against policy.  The ones that come to mind are Palms, Orleans, and Wynn.  I'm sure there are some others that I am forgetting.  Stick with the ones that other ladies have used with no problems and you'll be fine.

If you want a kitchen in-suite, you may have to go off-strip to one of the timeshare hotels.  AFAIK, none of the strip hotels have kitchens.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I am using the Vista Suite at Mandalay Bay. We are having the same amount of people at our reception as well.

on paper MGM says no outside catering, but there wasn't even a whisper about us having the bellhops bring up all our beer/wine/liquor from our car and having Masterpiece deliver food for 50 people

I am not aware of any on strip hotels that have kitchens. We were at my sister-in-laws suite in a timeshare and it did have a kitchen.
We had our insuite reception at Planet Hollywood's Panorama Suite. It had a small bar, small fridge and sink, but not a full kitchen.
We also had Masterpiece Cuisine cater our reception.

The Platinum Hotel (located at Flamingo and Koval) has suites that include a full kitchen.. I don't think it's too far from the MGM.

MGM WONT ALLOW OUTSIDE CATERING, SO WE ARE JUST DOING IT ON OUR OWN, WITH NO MENTION OF OUR PLANS TO THEM

We had an insuite reception at Mandalay Bay using Masterpiece Cuisine and Absolute Beverage, there was no problem from the hotel. Like others have said, we had a bar but no kitchen

I agree with the MGM comments they don't allow outside catering but the lady I'm working with knows what we are doing in our suite and hasn't said anything negative about it or that we will have to pay anything extra.

Look at Planet Hollywood Towers.  Their suites have a kitchen and they claim to allow outside catering.
