Mandalay Bay Brides

Hi All,

I am reserving my date today at The chapel in Mandalay Bay.  We are inviting about 100 guest and it's so early to confirm who will attend, should I reserve the larger chapel which holds 100 guest? They will charge me $250 more, or should I go with the smaller one that only holds 50?

Rule of thumb is to never invite more people than your venue will hold.  You might be surprised at who will come and who won't, and if you get more than 50 then you'll have to scramble to find another place if the bigger chapel is already booked up since you'll only be a month or so out at that point.

I think that's going to depend on how many people out of the 100 invited, you feel are actually going to make the trip. If you book the smaller chapel, You'll be fine--as long as your guest list falls apart. If it doesn't, you won't have enough seating. I am a MB bride, and one of the first questions my coordinator asked me was, how many guests I expected. When you tell her 100--I think you're going to be REQUIRED to book the Platinum. Ask your WC, if you book the Platinum, can you be move to the Silver or Gold chapel, (should it still be avail on your date) if your guest list were to shrink to under 50, and receive a credit for that $250 fee? Keep in mind, you'll need to know which chapel you'll be in before you print your invites, or your printed time will be incorrect. (they stagger ceremony times between the 3 chapels, as to not have lobby traffic, 2 ceremonies at once, etc) I was torn between the Silver and Gold, but ultimately went with the Gold, as it is smaller. Sounds funny to want the small chapel, but with a guest list of 45, I liked the feel of intimacy, and the idea of the smaller chapel looking full in my photos/video. Good luck today! I hope you like it. I was very happy with what I saw, and hope you are too!

This.  If you are inviting 100.  You should be prepared for that many to show up.  I'm not sure but would they even allow the extra people to stand if you had booked the smaller chapel? - i'm thinking that might be a fire hazard.  Anyways i still say book the larger one and not worry about stressing about it.

Your sanity is worth $250.  You dont want to have to worry about this as RSVPs come in.=)

Same here, but FI really liked the Silver, so we booked it.  I loved the smaller chapels!

OP - the PP above is right.  Your sanity is worth the $250!

I just moved my wedding from the silver to the platinum. I only have 70 people invited but I was worried even if 55 showed it would be to many. I would rather be safe then sorry so I upgraded.

Yup. Book the bigger. I only had 55-60 in there and it was better to have to much then to be cramped in the other chapel.

I'd go with the larger.  They pack them in there pretty tight when you have to get the maximum capacity figures.  We were expecting 100 and they were talking about removing the piano thing in the back corner of the one they showed us to add more chairs; went a differnet route in the end but it will definitely be crammed if you did have close to 100 show.

Thank you all so much. I took your advice and booked the Platinum chapel.
