Hey everyone!  After being engaged for 4 years I'm finally planning my wedding for November 11, 2012!!  We are 75% sure we want an amazing Vegas wedding, the only thing that may stop that is having to leave people out of our special day!  Knowing that some people aren't willing to travel for our wedding is kind of depressing, but I'll make the best of it!

I've been looking through the board, and I want to congratulate all of the 2011 brides!!  I love all of your posts, and the vendor reviews will be extremely helpful!!  I can't wait to connect with 2012 brides, as well as get insider tips from all of you who have already tied the knot!!!

The biggest thing I've noticed is you'll be surprised how many people show up to a destination wedding (especially Vegas).  People you think could never come will, and the opposite is true, too.  We picked a reception venue that holds 50 people, invited 50, and we expect about 30-40 to come. 

Have you been to Vegas before?  Do you want a big wedding, traditional, Elvis?

We're in the process of asking our family/friends if they even think they'd be able to make it out.. We're thinking it will most likely be small, have about 50 people we'd like to invite, but so far it seems about half (if that) will actually make the trip.

I'm hoping for something somewhat intimate, but still awesome!!  I was telling my mom I'd love to go through the tunnel of love in the pink cadillac with Elvis, but she wants more!!  I love Vegas, and the atmosphere is amaazing, so as long as I get there, I'm not too picky!

If you don't mind me asking, where are you having your ceremony/reception?  I've already looked at so many options, and now I just have to settle on one!!

Welcome! I'm an October bride so not far ahead of you I think I'll have about 15-20 people coming to our Wedding as I'm from the UK it's a long way for people to travel.

I have my reception booked at Maggiano's there deal's are amazing

Welcome to the board!!!!!  As others have said, you'll be amazed at how many people will show up.  We are trying to plan an October wedding and trying to keep it at 25-30 people.  Well as soon as we mentioned "vegas" all sorts of people are coming...some I'm thrilled to have there and others that I really hope don't come.  Just cause you getting married in Vegas, doesn't mean "ohhhh vacation".  I'm trying to figure out how to tell my nephew (who I'm not close with) that even though he wants to come, we don't want him there.  We aren't close but I just hate being rude.
All of us 2012 brides will be so lucky to have help planning from the other knotties on this board

Hello everyone and thank you   We are still contemplating changing our location to somewhere closer to home, but for some reason I have my heart set on Vegas, so I guess we'll see if my heart wins over my head!!

I kind of like the idea of going somewhere further so that it limits the number of people, otherwise I'll have a group of people that I barely know [the "have to invite even though you havent spoken for 20 years group lol"]

Hopefully our little poll to all of our closest family and friends results in a good size group willing to travel, then I can finally continue my planning!!

Like the other brides said...be careful with your invite numbers! You will be very surprised who will come out. My wedding planner said that normal DW have about a 50% attendance but for some reason Vegas weddings have 75%...

I didn't believe her, especially after talking to my family and seeing how many were like "Oh we probably can't make that!" It seemed about half my family were not going to come or even make plans to . So I went ahead and invited about 120 (knowing my venue only held 65 max!)

Well I am 4 weeks from my final RSVP date and I already have 62 RSVPs! If I even get a few more I will have to call my resort and see if we can get a larger room!

I would plan on 60-75% of the people you invite coming...EVERYONE loves Vegas

I hope it all works out for you!  I don't have much faith that I could get 62 people to show up, let alone more then 65!!  I'll have to play it by ear though, a lot of my family is either older, or has young kids so it may be an inconvenience.. Hopefully we can figure it out!
