New to the board with a few Q's

I've been lurking for a bit but just booked our ceremony at Mandalay Bay and I'm now looking into receptions.

We're having about 30 people and one of the options for a reception is Maggiano's but I'd want to get the guests over there (no one needs to be standing in a huge taxi line!)  I'm looking for transportion idea's and costs- any help?

Also for those who've had receptions at Maggiano's can you bring in your own cake? Are a lot of decorations needed?

Thanks!!
Nicole

I don't have any reception ideas as we are having only about 6 guests so we are probably just going to go out to dinner as opposed to having a formal reception but I'm also thinking of the Mandalay Bay.  Where are you having your ceremony?  We are thinking of the Valley of the Falls.

If you rent transportation such as limos, a bus, etc., there's a side entrance to MB they pick up at so your guests don't go to the normal taxi line.

I am doing MB and Maggiano's :)  We're going to rent a 24-person "party bus" to transport our guests from ceremony to reception and back to MB at the end of the night.  (It should be around $200 for us with tip.)  You could also do a Double Decker Bus with that number of people... it makes for a fun strip tour:

You can bring in your own cake; I'm not sure if there's a cake-cutting fee.  They have a preferred vendor.  Also, according to other Knotties, you don't need to do a lot of decorating.  Some people use Pam from Palette (you can google search her) for centerpieces.  Others use custom linens.  I'm actually not planning either, just going to scatter votives and call it a day...

    HTH!

Thanks for the info!  Who are you getting the party bus through?

We're doing it in the chapel (silver chapel I think). We need an indoor venue or my fiance will be wearing sunglasses through the ceremony to avoid a migraine!

    Hi
We hired the party bus from Presidential Limo to do a strip tour and then drop off at Maggiano's. They were really good and we were very pleased with them. Website is www.presidentiallimolv.com if you want to have a look.
We used Maggiano's preferred vendor (Freed's) for our cake and didn't order any extra decorations. The tables had cream tablecloths on and candles. We just put on our own table numbers that we took. To be honest there was so much food on the table that the tables were pretty full up as it was! Marc and Cassey at Maggiano's are great, they will go out of their way to help you. We dropped off lots of extra stuff to be put out (table plan, gift bags, etc) and they dealt with it all just as we wanted. You won't be disappointed x

We will probably do Bell Trans or Presidential.

I wish the preferred cake vendor had been Retro! Our cake was by Creations and it was good, but they didn't have ginormous and awesome flavored cupcakes.
