Negotiating

Hi girls and guys-

We are getting ready to secure a venue and I was wondering what room we have to negotiate. The date will be a Friday in Feb of 2013. Did you negotiate with your venue (ceremony/reception) ?

If you go off strip you may have some room, strip resorts Fri/Sat I haven't heard much in the way of flexibility.

I'm getting married at the Platinum, I was able to negotiate the food and beverage minimum with them. They have been very easy to work with and pretty flexible

Negotiate EVERYTHING involving your wedding. From Flowers to Food!
Just be careful and try not to low-ball them! Don't expect a miracle price ;)

Hmmm, I think you might find it tricky to negotiate when the date is so far ahead. They might argue that you are already geting a 2013 wedding for the 2011 price. But it is definitely worth a try.

I agree with Gribbles, that you may be at a bit of a disadvantage booking so far in advance. We booked at the Platinum about 10 months in advance. We were able to negotiate F&B min., food and beverage prices, and some fees. And for the most part, I wouldn't really even call it negotiating. It was really just offered to us immediately, once we said that price/budget was our top priority, and they seemed eager to book us.

Anyway, all of that being said, the Platinum was about the only place that we visited that was willing to negotiate, and you might be in a good position since Feb isn't a very popular time for weddings. Good luck!

Fingers crossed! It's slightly over budget for what we want. Can't wait to see the pica from your wedding. Are you using the misora?

But February is still pretty popular for Vegas with potentially 3 long weekends, Valentines Day and MAGIC. Make sure that you aren't falling on one of those 3 day weekends and you should do better with costs.

There wasn't any negotiation with any of my vendors. Although room sales did knock off $95/night on my suite since they couldn't give me a discount on the cabanas I rented.

I like the layout of Misora better than Kil@Wat, especially since you only have 50 people. Kil@Wat has a wall that kind of divides the dining room. I think it's in my pictures. Misora also has a better (i.e more traditional) looking layout inside the dining room. i also think it has a slightly better view b/c it has the glass walls vs the walls with large windows on the pool. Although another thing to think about, Misora we noticed was quite a bit more windy than on the Kil@Wat deck. FI put it this way, Misora is more of an intimate setting and Kil@Wat is more party

However, we are very, very happy with Kil@Wat. The setup is great for out final count of about 75 people. I do have some more pictures of Kil@Wat and the pool deck that we took when we had our menu tasting, I'll try to put them up in the next day or so.

Thanks a bunch for the info! My FI is much more traditional than I so I am trying to settle in the middle with Vegas. I will give him a more traditional reception ;) Are the views still nice without being on the patio? We are looking at a Mid-Feb wedding and will not be utilizing the deck.

EEK! We were looking at Valentines Day weekend and I just saw MAGIC will be there in 2012. I am wondering if their date changes?

I'm just curious how you would approach negotiating with vendors. Do you just say that you are working on a tight budget and see if they could offer something? Which vendors are worth negotiating with? We are planning on having a reception at Maggianos and I doubt they would lower their prices.

    Thanks

Ah, good point. Sometimes I forget that in Vegas, wedding season is not the only thing to consider. :)

@simonik. Yep, we'll be in Misora. And I would expect the view to still be awesome inside. I'll let you know in a few weeks. Wink

@mandm111. In general, I think saying something like "Is there any flexibility in your pricing?" is an easy way to bring it up. Or say something like, "Your prices start at $XX pp and our budget is $XX pp. Is there anyway to make our budget work?" I doubt Magianno's will negotiate, but you may have luck with other vendors.

Valentine's Day is not on a weekend in 2013. Are you thinking of being married on Friday, 02/15? If so, that is President's Day weekend so expect everything to be more expensive and more crowded that weekend with or without MAGIC.
