    Do you want them to?

Mine do but black and white with a touch of red isn't super original.

They don't have to.  We selected classic black and ivory invitations with no theme or color scheme in mind.

They do not have to but I was super crazy about keeping a "theme" since we were not doing much other decor. But it is definitely not required.

Smokey-No I just want to buy some nice affordable ones but I wanted to make sure it isn't suppose to.
vfriday- Thank you for the input. One week away you must be so excited. 1& 1 is what your ticker says.

They don't have to. Ours matched but I DIY'd them. You could always go with black and white and then you can add your other colors in other areas.

I agree that they don't have to match. We didn't have our colours picked when I had to get theh invitations out (we planned the wedding within 3 months and I wanted to get the invitations out ASAP). We did red, white, black for the invites... our colours turned out to be ivory, purple, and black. I don't think people will even remember that the colours are different. I say do what makes you happy :)

I think it's more important that it matches the formality of your wedding and the feel you're going for. No one's going to remember if your invitation matched your wedding colors. Besides... if you can save some money on invitations, then go for it!

I don't think they need to.  We did Vegas themed invites, they were very colorful (pics in bio) while our wedding was black and white.

They don't have to but it looks more pulled together if they do

Agreed. It was important to me that the invites match, so I'm DIY-ing my invites and using colored ribbon that matches my wedding colors. I have gone back and forth several times on a particular color scheme but in the end they will all match!

they don't have to - especially if you're doing Vegas themed invites.  and i agree PP that they should keep with the formality of your wedding.

but i will say - if there is a stand out color on the invite (i.e. anything besides black, white, or other 'neutrals'), i will generally stay away from wearing that color to the wedding because i assume its a wedding color and possibly a bridesmaid dress color.  but, i probably overthink things :)
