Photography $$$

okay I kinda need to vent. You don't have to give exactly what your spending but with photography time and rights to photos (if buying)what are you spending? Someone is telling me that $1800 is too much. Seriously If I was having a wedding at home we'd be spending way more than $2000 on pictures.

I don't think $1800 is a lot for pictures but I guess that's just me. If I want the rights I want the rights. Ugh sorry but just curious on what everyone else is spending around about. I wish planning was easy...wait planning isn't so bad. It's the p's. Lol. Live them to death but....ugh.

Thanks for letting me vent.

All depends on how much time you're talking. We're spending about $2k for 8 hours and feel it's a great deal because the photog comes highly recommended which gives us confidence our pics won't suck. I know they've raised their prices since then so perhaps that same 8 hours is $3k now, either way, I'd still feel it's a good deal when you factor in travel time, setup, having the best equipment, two photographers and then all the post-processing of the images, packaging them up, etc. It includes engagement session too but since we're not doing that they're going to shoot our rehearsal dinner instead.

I totally agree with you. I was able to justify a TTD shoot to FI by explaining that most people spend at least $1500 on wedding photography, so to be able to have full wedding coverage AND a TTD for that same price is pretty great.

I was anticipating spending $2,000 because of prices around here so I was thrilled when I was able to book Todd!

When we were going to get married here at home, we were over $2500 for our wedding package. We snagged 8 hours from Mike L Photgraphy for $1100.

I would have had no issues spending more, though. The photos are forever!

We're spending about $2,000. This is to fly two photog's (one being my friend) to our wedding, accommodation for them, and their time. We get a CD of every pic touched up and rights to print freely. I think it's a great investment, because at the end of the day all we have are memories and pictures, and you can't show someone else a memory.

I'm also using Todd from Bentley and Wilson. 8 hours is $849 I think (or pretty close to that) and with that you get the DVD with all your photos and like 200 prints. I've seen a lot of his pictures and I think he does great work!

I think I am the in the opposite boat. A good photo at home runs at about $2K without the rights so I was actually sooo suprised at the cost of photography in LV. I am more than happy to pay what I am. I booked Todd and didn't even negogiation on the website prices.

See I don't know why she's saying it's too much. I know Todd is $898 and photo tour is $298 and I have a CP photog for the ceremony and one hour extra and I want the rights to our CP photos and she says it's too much. Ugh I thank god Todd gives you the rights. I want all my memories from my wedding not just some. I wish I could have Todd for the ceremony but know my parents won't pay the outside vendor fee.

We're paying about 2k and it's for 2 shooters for 8 hours and a TTD session. In my eyes, totally worth it. FI thought it was a bit spicy but this is something I put my foot down on.

    1) I don't think CP allows outside photographers any more.
    2) Why wouldn't you pay it if that's what you wanted?

My parents are paying for the wedding and I want the Caesars package which has everything I want in it. My mom hasn't been the optimistic one thru this whole planning process. They leave this Monday for Vegas and they aren't even sure they want to put money down on the Juno garden. She'll never go for the outside vendor fee. She said "then why get married there".

$898 for 8 hours with Todd + $200 for the outside vendor fee = $1098

that includes all rights to all pictures, the strip tour, and he'll be photographing our ceremony. win! very glad we signed our contract before Caesars stopped allowing outside photographers in.

It depends on your priorities. Photography is a love of mine, so that was my number 1 budget item. We're spending about $3300 for 8 hours, two photogs, and a couple of albums. I feel like I'm getting a deal, because for Ron Miller's style and talent level, we'd be spending $4-5K back home. But some girls don't even have an extra photographer, and are happy with the 20 prints they get from Cashman. To me, photography is worth every penny, but it would be fruitless to try to convince someone who just doesn't care as much.
